Temperature Question(s) (turbocharged)

You didn't happen to buy this Rx8 off the Inland Empire Craigslist?
I was talking to a guy who was selling one and he talked a big game until I asked him the details of his built Greddy turbo'd Rx8.
But back to the question, have you checked to see if the thermostat is working properly?
Also when was the last time you did a coolant flush?

If it's water cooled then it is very likely a BNR upgraded GReddy. With that said even the BNR variant still uses oil.
I have a question regarding temps... Since I upgraded my water pump and thermostat recently I've finally gotten my water temps under control.... but she'll swing from 170 to 210 in 90 degree weather.
Jeff always used to say that water temperatures should chase oil temperatures and I always wondered how he arrived at that.
Now-a-days that's exactly what I'm observing.... water tends to chase oil. So when I saw that water peak of 210 today @ 90 ambient my oil was very close, if not already at 220.
I wish we had more on temps here... Unlike so many other things I've yet to find that one stop shop for all your temperature info needs.

In weather like that you should not see swings like that. But you have an auto right? So only on oil cooler? I can't compare your setup to mine because I have a lot of extra **** done but generally yes your oil temps and coolant temps will be within10-15F of each other when driving normally in hot weather. Oil temps of 220F is not dangerous but generally at the top of the scale where you want to be. Where are you reading oil temps from? If it is at the oil filter plate then 220F is not good, that means you pre oil cooler temps are likely higher.

Two oil coolers... Added the second a couple years ago and I pull my temp off the rb sandwich plate that has a relocator adapter on top of it... The filter itself sits all the way up by my maf and fuse box.
Always fsking something.
