Turbo Info

I was wondering would a Garrett GT3582R be ok to run in the RX-8, this would be a custom job

OK is a relative term.

What does this "customer" want?

And where is the turbo being placed?

yeah read the efficiency thread. but yes it is a great turbo. if you wanted fast spool you can use the T3 hotside. but you have to find room for an external wastegate and deal with the fact that it has a 4" inlet.

think about it. how is a reflashed factory ECU on a naturally aspirated car going to control boost?

technicaly ... all it does is reflash and read ^_^

but flashing the tables so it knows what to do with the increased airflow across the maf, changing the tables to change the afr, masking cel, changing limiters, fan kick on, etc.

yep all its doing is flashing, dont forget you can monitor values from the obd2 !

not connected to a boost controller though^_^, though i like my little greddy profec

So someone enlighten me? Cobb AccessPORT is a flashed based system correct, how would i be able to use a digital boost controler like greddy profec, would i have to get an ems like HKS OR Greddy, or AEM to use with so i can change boost levels on the fly,

you must have no idea how a boost controller works. it does not attach to any electronics on your car, just a solenoid.

Not sure where you are going with this. It's no different than connecting a manual crank boost controller. I am using an Apexi AVCR and it works fine.

On Cobb Accessport vehicles with factory boost controllers (STi etc) you can adjust boost from within the AP.

I would advise you do more research before slapping a turbo on.

An EBC (like the GReddy ProFec you mentioned) is a complete standalone system. Even in an STi (where the factory PCM controls boost) people upgrade to standalone boost controller systems.

Dude, you're local. You can come take a look at my car anytime you want. Or join AZMC for the Dyno Day at UMS on the 28th and see it all in action.

I mean this in the nicest way possible, if you have to ask these questions, you really have no business going FI. I knew more than you do and I did my own research and still blew my engine because I didn't know what I was doing. Two years later, and after a **** ton of research, I feel that I now have enough knowledge to keep from blowing my motor less then 5k miles down the road. Take the advice that others are giving and look into what they are telling you, it may convince you this isn't what you want to do.

Speaking of which, I need to meet up with you when I get to phoenix and see how you did your engine bay, if you don't mind of course. I love how clean it looks

I wonder if that is just how he talks or if he was drunk when he typed that. If it was just an oversight then you may want to add "proof reading" to your research list. Here, I'll fix it for you.
