Comparing a unique one off car, to a car thats running standard "anyone can buy this" bolt ons is two completely different things.

Besides, they did end up getting substaintally less money then they wanted, and It probably barely covered the R+D and man hours to figure out how to get the thing to run without exploding.

After reading this and thinking about it, I totally disagree with the fact that a turbo on a car just tells people the car has been beaten on. If that was the case, it would be safe to say that any production car with a turbo has automatically been beaten on. Their is a big difference between occassional spirited driving and actually abusing a car.

On that note, comparing a factory turbo car and a aftermarket turbo car, there is also a big difference in the amount of engineering that went into the design of the motor to consider all possible conditions in a factory turbo vs an aftermarket. This in itself means a factory turbo is usually a safer bet, especially when you might need it checked out. At least with a factory turbo car you can still get a warranty and have most any mechanic work on it.

I am of course speaking in common man terms. A modified car is worth the right amount of money to the right buyer.

It *IS* a pretty safe assumption that all turbo cars, even factory, have been beaten.

Why?

Who buys turbocharged cars? Your grandmother? Soccer moms?

No, people who like to *gasp* DRIVE FAST!
Or do they suddenly settle down and drive sedately with all that extra power just a twitch away..

Beating the **** out of a factory turbo car is a much safer bet than aftermarket however.. so given the choice, I'd take a stock turbo'd anything over an aftermarket turbo vehicle.

(B) X (LBs of Boost + LBs of NOS)/S = Value

B = Book Value of Your RX8
S = Amount of sense this thread makes (0)

Actually... to give a more serious answer...

It's already been stated well here. The turbo will only add value if you sell it to someone who wants it, otherwise your going to be loosing money.

Exactly, and if they don't want a turbo, then they won't come to look at the car.
