Turbo RX8 video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pn62nbokoG4

and

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeWVkdAni_0

Things left to do still is:

Install new seats
Install 8pot brembos
Install lower controller arm ball joint (defect)
Install new suspension

And considering HKS DLI-II

So, the videos are taken after a manual throttle body was installed. He's doing a base tune map since i have to break in the new rotary internal parts (not a motor swap).

So, in about 2 weeks, I'll have the car done (hopefully) after breakin and **hopefully** a video to go along w/ the power tune and dyno run.

a traditional throttle body, using cables instead of a motor to open the flap.

and I assume ours comes stock with the motor?

I didn't know there was an other way to do it except with cables... what are the advantages and disadvatages of each (if anyone cares to enlighten me and it hasn't already been discussed at length on the board someplace...)...

thanks for your patience...

i went w/ the manual throttle cable and not the stock drive by wire (not a throttle cable) because i felt when I was revving the car, there was this odd delay, enough for me to notice it. That was mainly the reason.

I haven't heard of anyone in the states actually having it.

Staggered Racing Hart CX's and MS Nose very nice... You might want to list all your mods so people know what they are looking at. Congrats...

Im holding off for PTP turbo but I appreciate your finely tuned Greddy beast!!

The cost is quite high: estimated overall cost, about $30+k.

Here's my modlist, i just edited my vbGarage:
https://www.rx8club.com/vbgarage.php?do=view&id=1372

As far as the DLI-II goes, its on the hksusa site and I know of an IS owner who has the DLI-II but w/ a universal harness.

BTW, i'm getting rid of the CX in trade for TE37 (black w/ red lip) because the 8-pot brembos can't fit w/ the CX. So, I have to get rid of them once the base mapping is done.

FE3P was the first to have it, on a NA car it improved his idle a bit and his car did not back fire as much..Rev's seemed much cleaner. On a turbocharged renesis it should make a slight difference.

that's weird wouldn't the drive by wire increase throttle response?

Unless I'm missing something, I think you'll be disappointed. The Greddy turbo maxes out at just over 300whp.

Custom built engine. I think its ported with FD internals or something like that.

I'm pretty confident that the Greddy turbo can't flow enough lb/min to support 400whp though. Even if the motor is built for more, it won't do much with superheated air. The Puertoricans have already tried and found the limits to be around 300whp.

The Japanese guy in the video called his freinds at Greddy about this exact issue. His friends at Greddy said the turbo has potential up to 450whp on my car. BUT that would be a dangerous tune. Keeping it around 350whp (or equivalent pressures) would be safe for the turbo. So, if you want to take it up, you'd have to talk to Mr. Wakita who only speaks japanese :p maybe you can ask him a few things for me as well if you do :D

Yup, he's right, I need to really get what engine specs as to what was done. All that was conveyed to me (and I was completely lost in translation) was agressive street port, apex seal upgrade, and three other items I couldn't comprehend. The result was a more robust internal system that could handle more power. It also helped that my engine's compression was lowered to something of an FD.

i thought that too, and that was the main reason why I never got rid of it. but, a friend of mine at SP engineering mentioned that there's will be a slight delay and its been measured by him concerning DBW. The other benefit of cable throttle is ease of tuning -- sure made a big difference w/ tuning and setup. Considering i got my PCM already reflashed :p
