When you lose an apex seal, it gouges the housing and, potentially, the end/mid plates and rotors.
The cost in those parts alone is $4k (provided you actually need to replace all 7, which usually isn't the case - its usually just one housing and, perhaps, one end plate).
Then its another $1700 in seals, "O" rings and gaskets.
