Will a turbo timer work properly on the -8?
Did a few searches, and couldn't find an authoritative answer. With the transponder/transmitter (whatever it is) that is embedded in our keys, will you actually be able to install a turbo timer and just walk away from your car after you turn it off? Or will you have to leave another key in the car to make it work right? Thanks.

I have a remote carstarter kit.. I haven't installed it yet, but it comes
with a harness to drop the key in and how to get it working. Seems pretty
straight forward. (My house is being built, so I don't have a garage to hook
it up yet, and it's in the middle of the winter here).
The kit I bought also has a turbo timer. I can't see why it shouldn't work.
The drawback is that you have to leave one key inside the car.

I'll be tackling a turbo timer install this weekend. I'll let you guys know how it goes. However, I'll be posting my results on my turbo thread. But I'll pop by here and let you guys know how it goes as well.
The turbo timer I'm going to be using is the Greddy Full Auto Turbo Timer.

To get the turbo timer to work you will need to have a key in the car. I have a remote start and they installed a key in the car hidden so that could be started. DEI makes an adapter for this. You could probably get this adapter and modify it to work with the turbo timer. The nice thing about the remote start I have is it has a cool down feature, by pushing a combo of buttons on the remote it will leave the car running for a few minutes and then shut it down.

This is an important point: you will lose the immobilizer functionality and make your car vulnerable to theft. Not because you embed a key in the electronics (you can always cut off the metal shaft and only use the ID chip) but because someone can then break in and hotwire the ignition. Frankly I'm not sure which is the lesser of the two evils.

The one I bought also messures the temp inside the car and transmits it to the
remote starter keychain.. Cool to see how cold / warm your car is getting..
