ZEX Nitrous

I've been reading through some of the threads here on RX8Club, trying to get a firm idea about the direction to go with Nitrous. It seems that until a supercharger/turbo kits (other than the Greddy) come out, we are limited for extra power. So Nitrous may be a way to go.

Also, it seems that this board has most experience with the ZEX kit. So if you don't mind, I'd like to shoot a few question out and see what response I get.

Can you reliably and safely use the ZEX kit with california gas (91MAX). ZEX says you should use 92 min.

Is the kit CARB certified? If not, how easy is it to uninstall. On this subject, can a dealer tell if you had it installed once its removed?

Has anyone come up with a table of Nitrous/Fuel nozzle sizes for different HPs - particular to the RX8?

Which kits have you guys used for the RX8? I saw Charles hill mention ZEX 82024, but this is without the bottle. What's the kit with the bottle?

How easy is it to install the kit yourself. I have installed exhausts, intakes, but not much more than that. And how long would I need? A weekend, or more.

Where should the nozzle be installed. Read somewhere that after the bellows on the intake is best. Is this correct?

Any gotcha along the way with the install that I should look our for?

Thanks for any and all help.

Yes, it is safe to use with Cali. 91. I have seen Addictive's setup over at the Malibu Canyon run & he has ran it for a while.

I don't believe I have ever seen a nitrous system that was CARB legal as it just pollutes like crazy when you have it on. All of the kits I have seen always have the "off road vehicle only" disclaimer. If you damage your engine they can do an engine break down & I believe the nitrous leaves a residue on your engine that makes it readily apparent that you used nitrous.

I believe the kit comes with 55, 65, & 75 shot jets. Most people that have any type of other performance upgrades use the 55 hp jet as they have experienced detonation. There was a poster that was running a 75 hp jet on a bone stock RX8 with no problems.

There are pictures & video of Addictive's setup from the Malibu Canyon run. I believe Charles "Ray" Hill can probably help you out if you have issues, but haven't seen him posting on here much recently.

I believe Charles posted he would be gone for 6 or so months and unable to post, but he would be back afterwards.

Nice seven year old post bump

A good search of the forum will show you DIY installs, the generally accepted "safe" shot, and many people's experience with the Zex kits.
