Not bashing anyone here but a lot of used sports cars are bought by old men going through a mid life and therefore are only driven 45 mph in the slow lane. Granted, you may get one that someone ragged it out before having to sell it, but i think its not as likely. Also, from what i heard from the mazda mechanic, you should drive the **** out of it to keep it in good working order. I tend to keep his advice.

Ok, but for a mechanic to say you should drive the hell out of it. That's just a lawsuit waiting to happen. "The mechanic said I should drive it like I stole it." But back to the new/used thing. The used is nice but when something breaks or fails you're going to have to pay an arm and a leg.
I bought mine new because I couldn't get a loan for something used, and I could get a warranty with the car so I don't have to sweat anything if it breaks. And I get a loaner car if it has to go into the shop for a while. I'm a college student so it's the sense of security that made me get a new car.

I bought it used, but it still had a warranty on it. In fact, its still under warranty. So i dont know what your argument is. 8's have a 5 year/50k warranty, at least mine does, they may be more than that now.

Your mechanic is correct - redline is good for the rotary (he may be a keeper). Yes I resemble that crack about midlife crises
but I did not know this car was capable of 45MPH gee I'd better see if my reduced reaction time and poor eyesight can do it
. Most older gentlemen that I know don't buy used, that usually is reserved for the youth. Nothing wrong with used other wise a lot of people could not afford transportation.

My argument is security...if something were to happen to where it's in there for a couple of days. I get a loaner car. I'm a college student so if I don't have a ride to school....I fail. I bought mine new for the sense of security.
Why I didn't buy used
#1 - It's a sports car, it's going to be driven hard.
#2 - I know everything is working properly, and is up to date
#3 - I get a loaner car when I ask for it
#4 - I can sell mine much faster being the first owner with all the paperwork (I have my window stickers laminated)

I also get a loaner car if i need one. I also have my sticker. I am not the 1st owner so you got me there. So i guess you can sell yours faster. maybe.

Plus my previous car was my '95 Camaro it broke down every other day. So the argument can go either way, new, used it's all up to the person, done. Everyone having a good day?

Well it wasn't me...kind of a funny story...
So I sold the camaro about a year and a half ago. Well about a month and a half ago we got a notification by mail that it had been impounded. It let us know that they never transferred the title into their name. So I went to the impound and paid $200 to have it taken out and towed to my house. So there it is...the damage was theirs. Not mine. They said it was an abandoned vehicle. So it's back to mine. That was my first car btw.

F that dude. Keep it. It was his responsibility to worry about the car and he abandoned it and never bothered to switch the title either. what if he had committed a crime in it and it came back on you. I say sell it again and pay off on your 8 if you havent already done so.

I still have around $18,000 to pay off. I have a friend with a 454 not in use (5 miles on it). I'll drop that in it and make it a fun strip car. If not I'll sell it for $4,000 cash and drop it on upgrades for the car. Suspension mainly..I don't feel like voiding my drivetrain warranty. Lower it a little bit, exhaust, tint, wheels. Who knows
