2009/2010 AT: What's the actual max rpm?
I know the spec says 7500rpm for AT. Will the car let you get some more revs or it will do the shifting for you at 7500rpm no matter what even if you are on manual mode or the rev limiter is capped at 7500rpm? Thanks!

if you are not in manumatic mode you'll probably never get it to hit the limit. it will switch on its own well before 7500

there is supposed to be a chip that overrides the limiter, can rev past 9500.

I...don't think there is this chip for the 09/10 models. There was this "chip" for the 08s and olders, but there wasn't a point since we have the AP.
@BigBacon - are you sure it won't shift up? I'm pretty sure if you hit the limiter for some time, it'll shift up. I'm just not one to hit the limiter.

yeah cobb ap will do it. should be coming out for the 2009-2010 rx8 sometime soon. I changed my rev limit to 9300 and it shifts smooth as butter.

Isn't the VDI non-operative / deleted on the A/T motors, since it would open just slightly before the stock A/T redline? If this is the case, I would think raising the redline on the A/T would not have quite the same effect as the M/T (other A/T dynamics aside).

the 6port autos have exactly the same powerplant as the M/T; 2006-present. 2004 and 2005 automatics have the 4 port engine so I have no idea, ive ever dealt with one of those, maybe someone else could answer that.
but the apv, ssv, and vdi all open on my engine at the same time as the m/t engine

Why do you say this? The last valve opens at 7250rpm on the 6AT and 6MT.

Yes, the vdi would open at 7250, and the a/t redline is 7500, so what would be the point in even having that functionality on the a/t? That's why I'm wondering if it's on the a/t motors at all. Would this be part of the a/t motor de-tuning, or is it just the redline reduction?
