I'm running an AP with my roots supercharger. We created the tune ourselves with some advice/proofreading from a pro, but we are only running 5 psi.

If you are looking for a good shop and/or rotary tuner in the midwest, check out Ryan Shook at Shook Motorsports. He is near Rockford, IL. http://www.shookmotorsports.com/

Ryan supports and sponsors our local rotary car club, EVOLV-Chicago (evolvchicago.org). I have never heard anyone have anything bad to say about Ryan. He is a great guy!

ppl,
i know there are tons of threads about the COBB AP and MM and i have read most of them or tried to,
I have a 2005 AT JDM, its bone stock, i recently imported it and have not made any changes to it,
i am interested in removing the speed cut @187 km/hr, and i would really love if i could get the car to make more power at lower RPM's so i could possibly burn some rubber when i launch her, would a COBB AT and custom tune from MM allow the car the do this. I know the AP will remove the speed cut, but would the tune do anything much in terms of performance for a totally unmodified car?

You may gain a little but not enough to do what you want......For the power you are expecting, burn rubber, you will have to go to the bottle or go FI. You will have to check with MM to see if the Cobb AP will support the JDM model you have.

Phill thanks for the reply,

i think i will still get the AT and get the BHR ignition kit as well, and run that for the while, eventually if i decide to go FI then these can both be very helpful additions to the system and not redundant,
which is why i am trying to stay away from the HKS sld as it only has one purpose and any future upgrade would make it redundant,

OO their has been a COBB AP for the JDM (all Models ) since 2009 see here

Hopefully someone can help.

I am running AP and at stoplights when at idle the car headlights dim then come back to normal, my idle is rough and drops then comes back to normal, and the car just feels like it is close to stalling out.

any ideas?

Are you using a map made for the 6AT? a factory accessport will only come pre-loaded with MT maps.

Are you running MM tunes or just the Copp standard tune? If your signed up with MM I think you had better have the tune upgraded to your a/t 8. Also a rough idle can be caused by bad motor mounts......

Plug it in and uninstall, then re-plug it in and if it asks for model info etc then you are done.

quick question i'm really thinking about getting an ap for my 04 at stock 8 with just an k@n filter and was wondering if i needed anything else before i put the ap on my car. Do i need to let MM tune it right away or can i wait a few months. I was told i am going to need to buy a lot of stuff before i increase my limiter to 8,500k does anybody know if this is true and what i need to buy. I have the money but not the info. Any ideas?

Hi guys. Thought I would post up the numbers for the 8.

05' 4 port AT/NA 39,000 miles.
RB Revi intake
RB cat back
BHR Ignition
AP with MM tune at the SoCal Dyno Days

144 Whp
123 Ft-Lbs Torque
@8000 RPM

MM tune got us approx. 10 Whp !! better MPG better low end 2500-5500 rpm. etc....

Had most of the week off and went to MAZDATRIX to pick up some Idemitsu premix. Got 26+ MPG.
Came back home via Santa Monica PCH 75F lovinit. Had lunch at Neptune's Net. Started home via Mulholland Hwy/Decker Canyon and wow! exiting corners and stepping on it produced a much better/usable rpm range.

Great tune - Thanks Jeff!!

Yes, thats what you can expect out of a 4 port and
those mods. That's Whp remember. More usable
Torque curve. Better exhaust note.

After MM tuned my 4 port I had a whopping 126 rwhp. I had rb intake and duct, rb catback, and bhr igntion system. I only picked up about 6-8 hp after the tune.

wow those are pretty good numbers on a 4AT, Id like to see how much more powwa you'd have got with a catless/HFC midpipe...i want to see if I can validate having a smelly loud exhaust.

Jeff said to me when she was coming off the Dyno
that he has rung out between 7 and 22 HP from a
catless mid-pipe As jaw drops to floor.

good numbers, but I believe thats usually for the MT guys. I think im either going back to stock/ weld a high flowing cat/ wait till a catted midpipe is up for sale.A catless midpipe and the HKS exhaust is ridiculously loud. I had plans for nitrous and a header, but I think im going to back out of both. Im moving on to cosmetics...and we'll see what happens from there.
