Most parts that fit MT will also fit AT, power gains will be less significant.

Probably exhaust system--I'd wait on the intake. Seriously, I would only do these mods for aesthetics vs. performance--cause at most you'd maybe net 5-10HP with an exhaust/intake combo, which will not be cost effective for performance/$

i did an intake/exhaust swap. the exhaust sounds awesome (B&B). i have no clue if the k&n typhoon kit even gave me any gains but it made my exhaust louder. it also brought the bling bling into the engine bay cuz the color matched the body.

Try someshots of nitrous. Allyoull get is noise pollution w/exhaust and intake systems.

You could strip out the interior; pull the A/C, radio, and speakers. That stuff is free and might get you a few tenths. :D

suspension/bracing/lighter wheels?
might as well focus on the handling part if you have an auto and you can put all your focus into driving a good racing line and not worry about shifting
that is assuming you're taking it to a track or want to drive..... hard

If this was the type of advice wanted, the thread would've been title "Advice needed, should I trade my AT for a MT" however it wasn't so please make your posts productive if you're going to post in an AT thread and don't have an AT :p
(sorry if I sound a little harsh, but I've been here over a year, and have seen those exact words over and over again)

For $700, there's not much out there, unless you want to pick up a Canzoomer or Emanage unit along with some way to monitor a/f and tune it yourself. That'll give you the most. This is my plan after I get moved to my new hometown.

I thinkyou should upgrade the suspension by starting w/new sway bars and then maybe the strut bar too -- and forget about performance upgrades until F/I comes out (if that ever happens). Theres noway youre going to make this car noticeably faster w/any type of exhaust or intake system anyway soyou might as well upgrade the automatic in the only area that it actually does a decent job in: handling. It takes corners really well stock - but w/some aftermarketsuspension products you can push the envelope a little further. Otherwise theonly thing youre going to recieve w/a new exhaust/intake system is more noise.

Thanks for the advice guys and thumbs up to term8 for helping out. As i said i needed on how to upgrade not trade in. I have already made this decision and will not back out or regret EVER!

Its ADVICE not OPINION of an auto. Try to do something productive and post useful stuff cause if you are going to post junk then dont bother posting at all. Absolutely uncalled for.

should i try out stock 8 first then decide whether to improve its stability cause the car is coming at the end of the month or just do it immediately when the car comes.
at the moment thinking if i should do these,
-install another oil cooler,is it necessary?(auto only has one)
-change 16 to 18" rims
-stut bar/carbing stut (dont know the difference, just know can install 1 in front, 2 underneath and 1 in the boot as seen in hyper rev vol 96)

As mentioned in another thread, if $ are not your limiting factor, I'd follow the "bolt-on" supercharger threads, wait for 2005 for driver feedback, and pounce!

Apparently, a S/C for Auto would make your ride a torque-monster, but hey...what wrong with that? I'm definitely looking forward to it!

sgrenesis, the auto's a great car nonetheless, so don't worry too much about people trying to put you down. There are plenty of good reasons to go w/ the auto, but I digress... Anyways, check out this post (alot to read!) for some promising info on the 4-port Renesis and Induction.

Also, adding an intake, exhaust, & suspension components never hurts & only makes a great car better! Hope this helps!

I have an Auto... check out www.CPRacing.ca for resonably priced chassis bracing.

I have the Grand Touring package so already have the 18" Alloys. The car felt sharp until I compared it with my S2000. Chassis bracing goes a long way to help. Racing Beat also suggested the best bang for the buck is the sway bar upgrade. I am saving up for the sway bar/spring package that they have.

Been asked a thousand times I'm sure...

I have an automatic RX-8 (I know, but it was gift for graduation) and I'm looking for some easy ways to improve HP/torque and all around preformance. I love the car it handles like a dreak and really is quite speedy. But, I'd like to know if there are any easy ways to mod it.

Any suggestions and help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

I was going to recommend searching, but I just tried and got a bunch of topics unrelated . Any mod (other than flywheel/clutch) for the M6 will work for the A4, it'll just produce lower gains, as the A4 is missing 2k rpm where alot of power is made.

I've looked into modifying the stock torque converter for more efficiency/higher flash stall, but the cost is prohibitive ($800 for stock converter assuming you don't want to tear down the car for 2-4weeks, minimum of $500 for modification, $100-150 for diy custom tranny cooler, and probably $200-400 labor)

tuned piggy-back ecu (have to do yourself or have someone dyno tune it)
exhaust/ midpipe
intake (if one is ever made that is better than stock)
pulleys
NO2 if that's your thing
FI (eventually)
porting (eventually)
etc

throw enough money at it, and power will come

I wish my car handled like a dreak. Ahh sweet, smooth dreak, nothing like it.

Flywheel is the best. ~ 1000
Then Mid pipe. ~ 1200 - 1600
Then exhaust. ~ 650 - 1500
Then a good air intake will be on the market. ?
Then less weight calipers. ~ 2500
Then replace the seats. ?
Then carbon fiber parts ~ 3,000-4,000.
Then body kit ~ 3,000 - 3,500
Then get the racing gear and go to school.
Then wait for FI. 3,000 - 8,000
Then crash the car at the track and wish you never started.

Cheapest and easiest way to mod your new 8?

Add some neons underneath the car, cover the car in vinyl stickers, dual racing stripes down the middle and a big GT wing on the bootlid.

At least now your car looks like it goes quick, even though it's an automatic.

Seriously, if you do any of the above, please post some pics so everyone here can flame you into oblivion.
