Air intake mod?
I am looking into buying the competition body kit soon and was wondering if it was possible to mod the stock airbox to use the vent in the front of the bumper for intake? I figuring it can't be hard and wonder if anyone has done it before or has any ideas? I also don't want it completely sealed as if it rains... yea that could be bad. But help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

OP: Revi Air Duct RX8: Intake - Kits/Air Filters: REVi Ram Air Duct - 04-08 RX-8 -
They come up for sale used pretty often for around $100.
Opening the box and removing the two baffles screwed in there may also be useful. A K&N panel filter may gain a little over stock, but the stock filters much better.
The Revi airbox will gain a bit of power, the AEM/Mazdaspeed setup, a little more (at the risk of water ingestion). No other commercially available setup will be any better, and most are worse.

Well if thats the Bumper your looking at with the Ram Air type opening.. The 8's with the VFAD Would have a duct real close if not directly behind that opening..There is a Simple Vfad bypass you could use which would make it work..

I actually just noticed i have a vfa on my intake. I just checked. I forgot when I had my car apart. It should work very well, and I am actually excited to use the vfad to its full capability. I know some people think that the k&n filter is bad ans the oem filter is better or it doesnt matter, but if you keep the filter cleaned is it that big of a deal? I have both screens in still too? Thanks.
