Auto tranny upgrade?

Auto tranny upgrade?
I searched transmission and transmission upgrade.
Got three related results for 6 speed units, but not an Automatic.
Please let me know how I can upgrade the automatic tranny to handle 9k rpms or the extra torque say 300rwp+ and maybe stall dumps or whatever you call them, without worrying about a tow home.
Currently, the auto hits 7k and quits, but in the future if replaced with the 6 port Auto, I may lift that limit. Not sure how that works but heard that the Autos couldn't handle the extra 2k rpm.
Thanks

you searched a generic word is why, there is plenty of info on this subject not to mention and automatic forum area which not only makes this a pointless repost that clogs up the search engine results but also the wrong forum area, all the kids are laughing at you ... again

Why would you try and replicate what a manual can do and in turn, potentially damage your car? Why not just go get a manual?
A level ten torque converter would do the job. But do realize that it is not just the TC that you would need. You'd still need the cobb accessPort in order to bump the redline up to 9k. And then you'd need better tranny oil (preferably redline) and a transmission cooler in order to handle the higher temperatures.
If you want to see if there are any updates for your car, check the Mazda TSB's. (Technical service bulletin). You can potentially get a new TC..

Do you realize that turblown's 425hp dyno plot was achieved with 6 port engine?
You will have much more fun just by learning how to drive stick and trade your car for a manual than spending at least 12k$ to make a 4 port reach that goal.

I know it's a 6 port and your point being a 4 port can't flow half that amount with the same turbo? Do you have 4 port flow chart data to back something like this up? I'm not saying this is incorrect, just can't say it is either

It can't flow the same, true. I would also focus on port timing since it is completely different. Some internal parts differ as well.
If your goal is 300 reliable rwhp and you don't have a handicap that prevents you from shifting then my advice is to go 6 port. It will be cheaper and a bit less stressing for the engine.
I'm not bashing any automatric rx8, it's just a fact that reaching that goal on a 4port and a 6port requires a completely different budget

I will reach 300hp with my 4 port AT. Presently I believe that the injector issue has been solved. I applaud any AT owner with the fortitude to make his AT what he wants it to be. God knows it is difficult because of all the nay sayers, and MT fanboys
As far as cost (budget) well that is a personal matter. I started out figuring that my end cost to achieve 300hp would be significant, mainly because at that time I was pushing the technology of the day. Now I believe that someone can make his dream for significantly less.
Charles (Ray) & Erick with BHR say that they will not allow me to make 300hp because then I will be satisfied and become complacent. They may be right.

You're right but it's also true that when you bought the car the AT was a 4port-4gears.
Nowadays it would be weird to push the limits on a 4 port when there are 6 gears, 6port automatics. Having more gears helps, that's a fact!
This doesn't make me a nay sayer, it surely can be done. Is it worth it? in my opinion nope!

Anyways, it was suggested that the trans upgraded is not a requirement at the moment but I may need to upgrade at some point.

That's ok if it performs worse, just looking to have some cheap thrills for this coming vacation
I was actually perfectly happy with the stock auto. I was surprised that I matched my friends 5 spd 95 Miata 50-undisclosed speed. Can't really claim racing when you excelerate that slow, but there ya go.

I'm saying it cant be done.
Consistent 300+whp is unattainable in a 4 port. I'm talking about pull after pull daily driven street rx8 4 port 4 speed.
You might hit it once one a lucky random day when its cold out and on a fresh engine build. But I guarantee you will be at 250-280 max any given day.
Go try and prove me wrong, I have no evidence. Spend 5 times the value of the car and try and get there.
Godspeed good sir.

That is just a 20rwp difference for aprx ~50 grand.
Would you suggest water/meth injection for like a few hundred bucks? That would certainly get me there consistently given what you guarantee in my current setup.

Ok thanks, so what would you suggest to go from consistent 280 to consistent 300rwp that will take 5 times the value of the vehicle? That is just a 20rwp difference for aprx ~50 grand. If anyone has a chance to pull this off its him.

Not to start a **** storm but on any given weekend in Vegas, some of the MT owners are replacing clutches, replacing trannys, and fixing little things that seem to be a problem on some (if not all) MT 8s. Several have been changed in my garage.
Yes if anyone comes up with a real kit for the 8 tranny (like with the 7s) I hope to be the first in line to acquire it.
