Auto Trans Mods
It seems that there will be an affordable s/c on the open market soon and there are now several e-manage packages out there but as I see it the week link could be the auto tranny.
I am looking for sone insperation and insight into "beefing up" the auto tranny in preperation of adding a s/c. Someone out there must have some experience with this.

Well, Level 10 and B&M could help with that; of course a tranny cooler is a must--but I believe you have that done already, if you got a beefed up torque converter with an increased stall speed the car would be even quicker, with a beefier tranny.

I was thinking about this question again--Isn't the 4spd auto the same basic unit that Mazda offered in the FD? That was a 4spd as well, while it did not have the sportronic per se--you could select the gears manually by using the hold button and shifting up the ratios--downshifting with it was very tricky though. But I digress, that particular tranny was beefy enough to handle the 255HP 214lb/ft of the FD--it got to 60 between 5.8 and 6.2 seconds stock. It also could take a little bit more power than that. I honestly think our boxes will be good enough with just a tranny cooler to handle the modest boost the greddy kit or some of the more modest supercharger kits have. Of course better to be safe than sorry though.

Bummed, but bring on OU!
Ours and the FD's trannies are the same family, and being the only other rwd setup in the family I'd bet we're ok. Besides we're only looking at 185-200rwhp with the modest boost.

I'm not looking for a dragster just a little more "umpth" in the low end. So if you guys think that a moderate s/c (such as RP is working on) would not be too hard on the tranny then maybe I'll not get too excited. I would like to proactive not reactive and be ready for my mods.

I don't buy Kool-Aid
Hey what was that about an affordable s/c I heard? Who is making this? and what's the web site if they got one?. Oh yea I would look into a A/T cooler too. In Vegas when its 115 out I could only guess how hot it is under that hood.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Are you talking about the Pettit Racing's supercharger?
Their web site is:
http://www.pettitracing.com/
There isn't a price for it yet though...
