Automatic RX8 mods 03+
For an automatic Rx8 I bought, not bad not bad. I got the 4 speed yr 04, sometimes I drive with a lot of attention because the color is black. All those 350z, s2000, even a honda civic want to race with me. I think a lot about it and ask myself, even u got a 500 at wheel. So what! Yes I know u smoke others. I think about my previous bosses they have M5, Jagar (the couple I frogot the name, something XGJ 5 like that). They all enjoy driving it.
So why not enjoy driving my Automatic, I did some mods already and will continue to do so. Such as waiting for the SC....
The reason I bought automatic is buz my dad said incase he can drive it also. He's a senoir already and would like to enjoy driving with both hands on the wheel.
I found modding the car is a fun part to chase.
My steps as follow:
1. Clear corners
2. JDM MS B pillar
3. S Tein drop
4. ARC intake (tht was loud way too loud, like a monster, then I sold it)
5. K & N drop in filter
6. MS exhaust ver1. (this is the best with no regret, not loud at all, basically is like a louder OEM sounds and when u do the manual shift, sounds like a manual, fun)
7. work emtion (not coming, refund money back)
8. GTU final decision Next summer
9. Strut bar MS (F) n (R) in this winter
10. interceptor X + SC....
Now whats yours thought?

Those are some good mods for an AT my setup is similiar, well somewhat,
I have
AEM cold air intake
MS exhuast
Unorthodox Pully's
and I just bought an interceptor-X, and plan to put a turbo on it as soon as I have enough money.
I wish there was more mods out for a RX-8 period. Since I think you should be able to get 250 or more RWHP for an AT RX8. Hell people get that outta of integra's and civics. But it will take time just like everything else.

^ mazdaspeed cai should be out within next few weeks so you should get that.
i've read the mazdaspeed exhaust is basically the only mazdaspeed product that is crap. well maybe not crap but there are better exhausts out there.

Hey guys:
Just a few thoughts for us fellow AT owners. Our cars are not fast, fast enough to hurt yourself yes, fast enough to take on a 350Z, no. I have fun with mine in fully "manual" mode and always shift at redline. If you baby your AT, it may come back and cause problems down the road. Carbon buildup is a killer with rotaries so when you can, redline your 8 and don't be shy to hear that faint "beeep"
My performance mods so far: (as I have done many many other mods that help with aesthetics)
1. Borla catback exhaust (for sound and looks)
2. CanZoomer Piggyback ECU
3. Racing Beat F/R sways
4. Tenzo R GT-5's 18x8 wrapped around Falken RT-615's
Future mods:
1. Tein springs
2. Rear shock tower brace
3. Turbo/SC when available

Nonperformance mod: RB AC/oil cooler screens... definitely worth the money to buy them than having to replace your AC condenser to the tune of $800 when a rock hits hit wrong.
RP Supercat for better flow and lighter weight and a few added horses
And I see several mentions of Tein springs but no mention of replacing the shocks. If you're going with the S-Techs, you're going to need to replace your shocks in the not too distant future (a bit further out if you're going with the H-Techs since they're not as stiff). Personally, I went with Koni yellows.

Hey, the AT forum is alive! I like it!
I bought my 04 AT used with a couple appearance mods from the previous owner. No performance mods.
Current mods:
Boot over the gearshift (Makes the stick, well, stick out less.)
Performance pedals
Red painted calipers
Future mods:
Borla Catback
RP Supercat
Hymee Twin screw supercharger (SOMEDAY!)
Interceptor X
Mazdaspeed or AEM CAI (Basically the same thing as I understand)

I aren't sure, but I think is kinda of loud and have a chooking sounds on our automatic 8. People will laugh at your 8 now when they know is an automatic and they laugh even louder when they can hear the exhaust sounds and can determine is an automatic.

Yeah I had the Borla installed on my 04 RX-8. Loved the sounds but didn't do much in the way of HP. I bought it used and def got my $$'s worth out of it. Highly recommended if you have the funds.

I am not a huge fan of the supercats, but I'd say it would free up at most 3-5whp...... I think more towards a 3, since a midpipe would net you about 5, but if you really have problem with your car smelling, then you should get it instead of a midpipe
search youtube, I'm sure there are vids of it

^ a supercat is basically a high-flowing catalytic converter
a mid pipe is just a pipe thats got no catalytic converter
which is why a midpipe would free up more hp than any type of supercat at all
I would recommend the turbo XS midpipe because of it's cheap price, and it gets the job done, one of my friend has it and his car isn't that loud at all
if you have an aftermarket exhaust, its either a 3inch or a 2.5, if its a 2.5 I recommend you go with rx7 store, resonated is a little bit quiter than non resonated
be warned, a midpipe will throw a CEL and give you gassy smell from you're exhaust
if a mid pipe is not for you, go with the RP supercat(be sure to get the latest version)

yeah, my only deal with the midpipe is that CEL honestly - but then again - with the mod's i plan on getting around the beginning of next year, i'll probably have a couple more CEL's anyways...ha
but yeah, if you do plan on going midpipe - i'd probably go for 3 rather than 2.5; either one should work well tho - oh yeah, and yes, the sound is awesome with the right exhaust but remember, the smell is strong regardless of what you go with!
