One thing I've been reading is this Cobb is being compared as the Interceptor X. I'm new to the whole maps and etc. If I'd plan on going Turbo, does the Cobb replace the Interceptor x, or will I still need the Int X plus the Cobb. From what I've been reading it appears the Cobb is an alternative, not an addition. Also Is it safe to get the Cobb, then get all the turbo parts and etc, and then just request the additional turbo maps? I dont know if I'd like to go FI yet, although the Cobb seems like a decent thing to get, but I also didnt like teh fact of the Interceptor X, that I could technically buy, and then if i decide to go FI, I'd have to send it back for them to retune, and then reinstal it. Is it safe to say that I could just buy the Cobb, and then decide if I want to do the FI thing, without sending it back in etc. Sorry for the novel. Just trying to wrap my head around everything.

I think you should do a little searching - you are talking about two completely different animals here. If you just read a little bit on the subject all your questions will be answered.

Quaz, one of the benefits of the Cobb, especially when purchased from MM, is that it is MAF-based so as your airflow increases with certain mods(including F/I) the mapping will instantly respond to it and, if necessary, you'll be able to access the 700+ maps that MM has accrued over the time he has been working with it. Believe me, that guy is a data ***** and has all sorts of stuff in his "library".

The way I simplify the decision-making is with this analogy; would you prefer to control the factory PCM from within or try and intercept the control signals with yet another box under the hood?

Thanks Charles. That's what I couldn't wrap my head around. One vs the other. Pretty new to the stuff, but trying to be a sponge and soak in all I can before attempting anything.

Thanks Phil - You are the first to flame me on the forum. I was trying to go on this forum without asking a stupid question, and getting the "READ JACKASS" reply. I feel so "noobie".

He wasn't flaming you.
He was just pointing out that it is unreasonable to expect the people that have done their homework to write you a novel (or even CliffNotes) just because you don't want to do yours.

Son, you have not yet been flamed - I only suggested a little reading- Never said "Read Jackass" only suggested that you look a little bit.

No No No No I didnt mean to cause troubles or frowns to anyone. I hope no ones offended. I felt my original post was ok to ask because I did read all about the int X and this Cobb and didnt really quite get my ? answered. I'm trying to understand all this and the differences.

I totally agree I should be spanked since I asked a question "where can I get a light saber" to some star wars people? I said the "READ JACKASS" comment completely myself for your entertainment purposes. NO problems here.

You may not have realized it but you were asking for a whole thread's worth of information in one post. You might have been better served for me to do as Jeff did and just send you a link. But then I'm just a lazy old man. Oh yea and don't believe Ray, he has the Spock attitude if not the ears.

As long as I don't have to wear a Red Shirt, I'm OK with the idea!
Just give me Yeoman Rand and I'm good to go!

So if I go FI turbo, choose the map from Cobb. Then I am good to go.

For the Inter-X, you have to hire a professional tuner to tune it to the right proper gain.

Correct me if I am wrong?

Cobb doesn't have turbo maps.
At the moment, the only way to get a turbo map on the AccessPORT is from me.

I tried opening my car up and the acceleration stopped at 121ish. It really did feel like the engine was cutting off. I am not certain that it was a speed limiter but it felt exactly like my Mazda Pickup when it hits the limiter at 105. I would say that my dyno confirmed this (however everyone wants to discount anything about my dyno) as it showed increased horsepower right up to the rev limit and capped at 121.

Jeff, Can the AP recognize the '08 yet? Also, I need to hook up with you still. I had waited at the BBQ for ya all until about 10 pm but didn't want to bother you while you were working on the cars.

I thought I was going to get my AP today. But have been unable to get a hold of MM. I will try tomorrow. I will camp on his door.
Next week I am hoping we can do some tuning and dyno time. I'm sure you would all like that.

So I we installed the AP today. All I can say for now is SMOKIN!
Butt dyno is puckering. It pulls strong to 8250 with a simple map.
Next week we will do some dyno work and some fine tuning.

Well worth the money.
