So how many of us AT owners plan to get the Cobb RX-8 hand held tuner?? I know Cobb has not said anything, but what type of gains/benefits are you expecting?

Quite interesting. I recently came across this link: http://www.cobbtuning.com/content/pdf3066.pdf and so I am curious as to how this would truly benefit the ATs. According to the info, one may be able to "see power gains in excess of HP" even though I am not sure how this is possible. Yet I find the ECU to be such an important component. For example, after I had it reflashed last year (as many members have done) I noticed the car is consuming a lot more gas- this is not a small amount but quite significant and my driving habits and distances covered have not changed. I was told by my dealership after I informed them on this that there should be an update on this ECU in about a month's time.

Anyways, getting something like the Cobb tuner may be interesting since it appears when can monitor about performance aspect of the car (curious to know what this unit will cost when it appears). Yet does tampering with the controls, also help my car comply with the Emissions safety test which by law, my car must undergo every so often?

Not sure. I thought I heard that Cobb uses these tuners in some states to help get some cars with really wild setups get through emmisisons... I think it is on the other thread about this tuner I posted. If you do a search for Cobb the other thred should be there...
