Engine Overheat!!!
My engine was over heat during last June, The reason I am concerning because it bothers me that my engine might be damage, but to me it seems fine because it drive like it use to be. When the overheating happen the water temperature run really high almost reach all the way to the right the the car have no power at all, when I stopped the car the coolant flood out. But after I let the car rest for a day next day was perfectly fine.
I think the over heating are causing by the high altitudes(mountain road of Lake Tahoe) second, I think all this turn make the engine oil goes left and right causing the engine not able to get oil to cool the temp.
The story is my friend think that his A/T 350Z are better then A/T RX8, I cant let them talk crap about RX8 right? The 350Z are really fast on straight road and uphill, but when it goes to downhill and turns I beat him so bad and he couldn't even see my taillight. BTW both Z and 8 beat the 07 mustang V8 really bad. Mustang SUCKS!! haha
Anyway you think my engine are fine?

Maybe the altitude has something to do but i'm no physicist or engineer and as for the heat I doubt it.
I live in Jamaica and the weather is always 30-45 Celsius and I drive like theres no tomorrow and the car runs fine just that sometimes the fan runs for like 20 minutes after I turn off the car lol

sounds like you oveheated the engine pretty good. The stock temperature gauge on the RX-8 is actually not very good becuase it doesn't move until your car is already starting to overheat.
The needle will start moving at 231°F and anything above that means you should slow the car down quickly and let it cool down.
If your coolant overfilled, you were probably well over 240°F.
HOw many miles on your car? have you replaced the coolant levels?
Also, all the turns should not hurt you as far as oil getting to the engine, don't worry about that.
oh, and we ALL know that the RX-8 > 350z.

Thanks, well at Lake Tahoe Mountain the temperature was pretty low, there is a bit snow on the side of the road! so i am pretty sure it has to do either with the attitude or maybe need the Greddy oil pan to make sure the engine have oil, I am surprise that our coolant container is a lot smaller where it suppose to be don't you agree? I mean Mazda should know rotary temp are higher piston engine. 350Z are twice bigger then ours.
Let say if my engine in the future damage(knock on wood). how much i am looking for to fix it or buy a new one?
Yeah i am surprise it still run fine

you could ruin the Seals if you overheat it enough. Just do not push the car very hard if the temperature needle starts moving to the right.
You would need to rebuild the engine, probably a few thousand.

Altitude will only lean the AFR's a little bit. That is possible to make more heat in the engine combustion cycle. And in turn could raise the coolant temps.
Also aggressive driving will always raise the temps. Especially in an AT. I know. So far my engine has hit temps in the mid 240's and so far has not lost power or compression.
If you keep overheating above 240 then there is a chance of rotor housing seal damage. And damage of the rotor housing seal grove.
I would just say to take it a little easier on the Mountain roads.
