Few questions about turbo.

Hey guys, I'm be been hanging around the forums for about half a year so far and reading. Now I'm coming out to speak.

In my up and coming plans, I have plans to install a turbo kit on my 8. It probably will not happen till i'm back living in the mainland.

I'm interested in both the greddy and emeril turbo kits however I have read about greddy having a lot of issues and wholes in the kit itself. What kit is recommended to rule with a AT platform.

Besides, boost gauges, oil temp, and AFR gauges. What other gauges are recommended to have?

Tranny coolers, doesn't anyone have any recommendation on brands because I'll probably have one installed while I'm here in guam?

Should I upgrade my engine cooling system?

Are there any Fuel system upgrade kits out there? I probably will need to purchase one of these kits when I go turbo.

I'm just gathering info as I will be making purchases when I receive my reenlistment bonuses?

The Esmeril kit has most of what you are asking for but there is only one company in the World where you can get a radiator that has upgraded cooling on both the engine and tranny sides.

Here's what it looks like;

u guys just officially hijacked a poor AT owner's thread.............

Fuel rail upgrade is recommended, but don't need it unless its like 350whp+

also, you will need to upgrade the radiator, go with CRH's

turbo kit are the same after finalizing, the greddy will cost about as much as the esmeril once you fix it all

Please stop talking out of your ***.

You can get the complete GReddy kit with EMU for $3200 plus shipping

The Esmeril kit with EMU is $6500 plus shipping

To "upgrade" the GReddy kit, you need new couplers ($90 bucks), larger secondary fuel injectors ($270 bucks), a blow-off valve ($200 depending on choice), boost gauge ($50-$200 depending on choice), wideband AFR gauge ($300 depending), and there are other recommendations but that is the bare what I would run. Budget $300 misc parts to be safe.

The Esmeril kit still needs a wideband AFR gauge ($300), and a boost gauge ($50-$200).

Final prices for parts (no install included, because they would cost the same):

GReddy: $4560 plus ship

Esmeril: $7000 plus ship

Still way cheaper, you can save over $2400 bucks by getting the GReddy kit. That means you can also buy the Garrett GT2871R turbo and make a comfortable 340-rwhp with virtually no lag and still have money left over to buy a radiator, midpipe, and misc parts

For sub-300 whp, you don't even need to upgrade the fuel injectors.

No, but it's good insurance, and you can get 300-rwhp out of the GReddy with a new w/g actuator and new fuel injectors, or so I'm trying before the first of the year

Also forgot on that price list you need a boost controller, but it's mute because you need one for both so it doesn't effect the price difference

Sure, but at that price point, the Esmeril kit would outperform it in price and performance, and comes with more upgraded items (such as injectors).
