How do I get faster acceleration out of my AT RX-8?

You hold the brake down with one foot and press on the accelerator with the other foot. When the light turns green you then release the brake pedal and continue to press the accelerator. Note- It does take a little bit of practice to get the technique down, but after a day or so you will see an improvement in your technique and launching from a dead stop.
Its better than launching from 800 rpms, which is regular idle. With this method you could launch around 3,000 rpms. The limit is caused by the torque converter.

....I can launch from about 3500 rpm, and its better when you hit the brake and when you are about to launch you actually let go of the brake a little bit THEN WOT

Cobb's AccessPort is all im waiting for. This device will be a "BIG" help for AT's and if there's a torque converter available, ill go get that as well. Pettit's SC is the next plan....and after that, is going bye bye! haha. AT rules!

Seriously.. FML..
Yeh. I actually tested that "brake launch" and it seemed to accelerate much better. Tried it from stop sign to stop sign. Went from 0-60 in under 6 seconds! Well.. It was slightly close..

That's not bad at all for an auto. I use the brake launch occasionlly and I definitely feel a faster accelleration. It's nice to have the numbers.
