Mazdaspeed dual muffler exhaust on 05 AT

I'm getting this installed this coming friday and just wondering if anybody else here has done this. If so, did you notice anything other than an improvement in sound? That's mainly what I'm going for, but any improvements in throttle response, etc would be welcomed as well of course

Mazdaspeed Dual Muffler Catbac

I'm in the process of ordering this system also along with the CAI. I'm having my Mazda Dealer install both. Got a pretty good price for the installations complete.

There is a few posts on the Mazdaspeed dual cat exhaust sound. So far a hands down awsome sound as far as I've read. Horsepower is probably 4-5 horses from what I've seen in past clips & articles but as some one wrote to me " to here the horsepower is worth the expence alone"!!!

I just put the MS Dual Exhaust on yesterday.

Sound @ low RPMs is quiet, but get around 4 and WOT and it sounds very deep... deffintly an improvement.

+1, especially on the cold air, piece of cake taking the front bumper off.

I have it installed it on my 8, and the sound is very aggressive, but thats only between 5K to 9K RPM, not a very raspy at all in my opinion. As far as throttle response I think it didn't really help, but I have an AEM intake to go along with it and the intake gave a little more UMPH to the throttle.... but each car varies....

sound clip coming soon and pics

I am interested in hearing this one, and maybe someone post price?

even though my car is the 6 speed GT model I will be interested in hearing this exhaust on AT, I know that the magnaflow system sounds raspy in AT as I heard one at my local dealer before

Got mine today, and it was about 570. Really enjoying it so far. Nice sound, nice rumble down low that gets louder as you go up. Gets aggresive around 5K like someone else says. I can see why some people might think it is too loud on the MT. Its as about as loud as I'd want it on my AT, and with the MT you've got 1500 more rpm to go...

dam I have the ver 1, it roars a bit like a dog. But it doesn't roar as a lion like what you guys have desribed.

I am so disappointed on the ver 1 with even SMALLER TIPS (looks like) than the OEM one.

Just put the new MAzdaspeed Dual Sport exhaust on last Friday night. Love the sound and it looks great. Tips larger than stock and extend out the back more.
Quite at an idle and cuising, but open her up and you get a deep powerful sound, Not to loud. And definetly not "ricey". Wife say's "That's Hot". What more do you want.
Bought it from Rosenthal, they had it listed for $525.00 and $30.00 shipping. Found out it was only $495.00 incl. shipping. Such a deal!

I managed to score a Borla for a lot less than retail off a totaled Rx-8, exhaust is orgasmic, would definitely recommend one if you have the means or an opportunity comes up like mine

i have both the mazdaspeed cai and dual exhaust, the combination is awesome. nice sound comes from both ends of the car, nothing too loud, very subtle but awesome at the higher rpms. just my 2 cents. also feel an increase in power (very slightly) at higher rpms but nothing to make a BIG difference.

Yes you do have to cut the plastic, it sits just a bit to close to the 90 degree turn before the tip. I checked when I put mine on and I did not cut quit an inch, maybe more like 3/4". I also had problems with the two bolts on the CAT side of the exhaust. Other than being VERY tight the nut did not come off the stud. Instead they unscrewed from the Cat flange. The right sideof the stud in the pic screws into the CAT. The whole assembly (stud/nut/spring) came out at one time. I did not bring any tools home to rectify this problem, as I did not forsee it happening. I could not remove the nut from the stud to reinstall it. I swear it was fused to the stud. Now the small spring is expanded and this makes it difficult (understatement) to reinstall the stud and spring and nut. Not to mention the studs do not fit through the holes in the flange in the new Mazdaspeed pipe. (The flare on the right side of the stud) Makeing it too short to reach the Cat flange threads. The new Exhaust comes with two new nuts that go on the studs and hold the springs. They were like $15.00 for the two. I would recommend starting out by removeing one of the nut's to see if it does come off the stud,or if the stud comes out of the Cat. And if just the nut comes off then continue with the removeal of the original system. If not then get the studs from the dealer before you go to far. There is a point of no return.
Other than that the install was a breeze!
