Mods for AT
Ok, I know there are probably other threads for this, but I've looked and couldn't find any. I've seen some really nice ATs on here and, seeing that I bought my 05 AT used, I didn't have much of a choice for a transmission. I wanted to start a thread that helps people like me with a AT on where to start with engine mods. I'm more of a all go, no show type of person myself. What would be a good place to start whether your looking for a 20-30hp increase or 75-100hp+? Engine management; how you can find hp there? FI? Maybe even some specifics on the 4-port and 6-port engines? Maybe you guys with major mods done can list what you had done, how much would someone expect to pay, how does the car handle afterwards, pros/cons? I mean I know its a lot of info for one thread but a start would help since I don't see that much traffic for the ATs on here, and I'm here almost everyday. Thanks! Hope to get something started ;-)

This section has many specific AT mods.. There's plenty. I'd doubt you'd get close to +75 HP increase though. As for the 4 port and 6 port engines, since you have an 05 AT, you have the 4 port. Which is very different from the 6.

right but ima sound stupid by saying this. i read sumwhere that a d port is 6 port ith two of them closed or sumtin like that. true or not true? if so, could we unlock/open the other 2?

yea i was in the same position you were chilboy bought my 8 used and wish i could have a manual, but for the price i got it for i cant complain. but mods are deffinitielly needed.

ya i mean mine was 05, GT AT, everything but the 6 cd and the nav, only 8900 miles on it. they had it for 21k and i got it for 19,800 after out the door. and white is my fav color on cars. btw, not much of a choice when it came for used 8's in da ocean city area ya kno.

ok im on my Treo and the qwerty on here sux. i read sumwhere that the 4 ports are just 6 port engines with 2 ports plugged or locked or something. i have no idea what else it said but it sounded bogus.

the 4 port and 6 port are different from 5k rpm upwards.......the 4 port also has a 4 speed tranny, which means your acceleration would be slower than a 6 port
and your whp after 5k rpm would not go up as much as the 6 ports, I am not gonna say like phil and say FI is your only option for any real significant hp gain, but you do need a new emgine management to get the best out of your mods, thats all I'm saying on this thread since I have over 500 posts on this subject already

I know not what you really want but if it's a fire breathing dragon - sell out quick. If it's a really fun car with sufficient power then the 4a/t can be modded for the extra power.

ahaha ya fire breathing dragon, riiiiight :-P na man. I was originally gonna go with the ricer thing (01 or so accord coupe v6 and mod the helll outta it). bt a honda is a honda, and its DEF NOT an rx8. i have been smoked by sum sooped up civics recently and i dont like it, but im just lookin for sum extra fun. but i want it all to be safe. mayb int x first off then just go with cooling everything down first (tranny, oil, radiator) then mayb cai n exhaust after that. would that be the safest route? im thinkin that way, if im thinking of FI later on, i already got the cooling part down right?

phil, I actually think a fire breathing dragon would be much better attained than a fun car to drive.........all you need to do is put those exhaust-fire kits in and your set.........we actually need to put time and effort into this **** =.=

cooling the tranny is everything, our tranny is this blocky piece of crap with a black tray under it........and our flexplates suck T.T
#20
flexplates, thats another to add to the list of mods. wat about engine cooling? radiator and fan right? and an oil cooler too. i wanna do those before i decide to drop anything major on da engine ya kno. she'll run fine bone stock if i just add those right? then mayb get int-x, cai, exhaust, in that order? or int-x first?
#21
No, but driving skills will!!! Manual Mode verses D-mode. Another point the auto 8 pulls quicker off the line at about 1500rpm's than brake standing with the peddal floored! Go figure?
#22
Underdrive pulleys can free up some HP(Not make). Most people get the AP pulley(Most underdriven pulley). I would'nt belive the claimed HP gains from the websites(even if they have Dyno graphs) but 1-3HP gains more likely.

ey man, honestly, go to youtube, theres a vid of two bone stock 8's, one auto and the other stick, tell me wat you think? the manual is A LOT faster than the auto. ATs might get off the line a tick quicker because of the torque but other than that, nothing. and question, does turning the DSC off do ANYTHING other than let your car go nuts in a turn? i mean i topped out t 125 in 3rd and 4th... gr gr gr
