AT mods to get HP of MT
#11
A man after my own heart - it more than works for what this poster is asking for. To be objective so do turbos. Just depends what you like. S/C get faster response (for me). I am told that turbos have a more sustained boost at higher RPMs. 09 factor has the turbo in his at and loves it.

As you know I had the X installed before going FI and while I did gain 20hp I lost some performance. Most n/a 8s only gain 8 to 10 hp (see Mazport threads) with the X only. The only ways are NOZ and FI.
What happened to our little buddy? Is he a captive in Thailand?

if anything i would go with the Pettit Supercharger. yeah it cost a pretty penny, but you can beat the MT and you can maybe be some Mustangs GTs.. so i think it would be worth it big time..

Atilla, what makes you think that a n/a Cobb flash will give you 20hp? Please point out to me where he promised this. I would hope that for n/a cars you are right but in a face to face conversation he says that the hp gain will be minimal but performance will improve.

Anyways yeah, i honestly don't know where Taj is exactly? i remember i talked to him before he left and he said while he was out there in the east he was gonna look around for some parts from the homeland (our 8's homeland that is )...iono there was some babble about him possibly taking a side trip to japan but yeeaahh...i was drinking at the time so i'm not 100% sure
on a side note Phil - when you say you lost some performance from the int-x, can you clarify? Because i'm really looking into picking this up towads the middle of this year. i know you've probably already mentioned it some where else but yeah...the search button is sooooo far

Let me say in advance that this was my experience with the x when na. Some where around here I have dyno sheets to back up the gain but I have no idea how to post them. The installation of the X with a standard tune in the dongle from Mazport produced 12 hp extra right out of the box. The car ran erratic as the idle went to hell in a hand basket, it bucked on take off and I was even slower off the line than stock. Now in fairness to Scott of Mazport, it needed tuning desperately and there is no one in Vegas that would touch it. The local 7 club was having a tuning/dyno day with a renowned tuner by the name of Steve Kan so I managed to get on the list for the tune. He used triple the normal time to get a tune to mine and was able to get 20.5 extra HP from stock. Steve was never able to get the car to run correctly and it stumbled, idle was never consistent and while faster that stock, did not perform as stock.
I would never tell you not to get one, but if you do have someone local that knows how to tune it. You will always have a CEL but with a scangauge it's easy to check and make sure that it's the usual one and it' easy to unhook at smog time (to get rid of the CEL). I have a lot of difficulty with weather changes and heat changes effecting me but it seems like it only happens in the dry desert and not other places.
Oh I figured that I would add that I do not believe that I ever will part with the X as it does offer some interesting scenarios even after I get a flash.

^thanks for the info Phil
I've been looking into the int-x for some time now - and though there are many techincal things that still go over my head i do understand what is to gain - but what i've been looking into recently is trying to get any kind of info relatively opposite of it so i can see as many points of views as possibly before jumping in. I may end up pm'ing you for some more specifics later tho. Did steve ever address what the problem was with your idle or get off? and was the issue specifically caused by the int-x?
p.s.- i believe i have a good tuner near by that's familiar with the int-x. but i have yet to talk to them about if they can help tune an AT.

If your tuner can tune a mt he will have no problem with an at. I currently have Mazda Maniac tuning my x but we do still have some issues. You will enjoy it I just don't want you to think it will be all roses. Wait until you find that you no longer have rpm barriers.
