Need Help Deciding Next Mod
What’s up everyone, I need some help deciding which mod to do next to my car and wanted some opinions or advice. I’ve already done my research on these items so I’m not asking which is going to give me better HP or Torque. I’m asking what would you do if you were me, I don’t track the car or plan on it right now. I’ve got an 05 WWP 4port AT with these current mods – RP Supercat, RB Race Exhaust, Sprint Springs, Mazdaspeed shocks, slotted/drilled brake rotors, hawk hps pads, and stainless steel brake lines, clear corners. Here are the mods I’m thinking of in order of my preference….
1. Mazsport Ignition Solution + new spark plugs
2. Cobb AccessPort from Mazdamaniac
3. RB sways, and CAI + Duct
4. Appearance items like smoked head/tail lights, rotary accents, paint calipers, plus other stuff I can’t think of right now.
5. A set of black Enkei rpf1’s
Also instead of the mazsport ignition I thought about just changing plugs, wires, and coils. If I do that it will leave me some extra cash to do the little things like smoke the lights or something. My car right now has almost 75K miles on it, the plugs have been in for at least 25K miles now going on 28K, the wires and coils are still the originals. The mileage on my current ignition system is the reason for me placing it at the top of my list. I’d love to have a Cobb AP but I think the ignition would provide a little more peace of mind for reliability this hot summer and I also think tuning with the Cobb would be better off after the ignition installed. The reason the wheels are at the bottom is because they are the most expensive piece and would probably take the longest to get. Let me know what you guys think and I’m open to idea’s if you have other suggestions.

i would go for the AP. it would provide the most gains, which i know isnt the most important thing to you. but it would maximize your current exhaust set up and provide you with things like the ability to check CELs, 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, gives real readings.
i have heard some negative things from a few people about the Mazsport ignition. plus the BHR ignition is gonna be cheaper also.
i also like the ideas of the black rpf1's. those would be good.

Thanks I just checked out the BHR Ignition and it looks pretty sweet. I might do that instead of Mazsport I don't know yet. I really like the capabilities of the Cobb though I might have to go for it.

If I pick up that Esmeril Kit it looks like I still need spark plugs and spark plug wires am I right? Anything else?
From the site:
The kit includes 4 coils, steel mounting base, mounting hardware, four coil plugs with wiring harness and detailed installation. Installation is very easy and can be completed in under an hour.

I have a question about upgrading the ignition....Lets say I just change Coils, Wires, and Plugs and don't buy an ignition solution from someone. What kind of gains am I going to be missing out on by not having their specialized mounting brackets/hardware and wiring harnesses? Those 2 things seem to be the only pieces I would be missing at that point? Let me know what you think. Thanks

What kind of coils were you planning on installing? No coils will just plug into the factory harness except factory coils. If you do some aftermarket coils you will need a harness adapter. As far as mounting bracket. You could make your own.
But my opinion is that why waste your time when somebody has done it for you already. BHR is a drop in complete upgrade coil system.
Coils, jumper connectors, mounting bracket, plug wires and sparkplugs if you want. And BHR's famous warranty and free shipping.

Thanks everyone for the info this is good stuff. I like the BHR product looks nice and I have had the pleasure of meeting Ray and we all know he is a great guy. I can't decide just yet. I want both the ignition and Cobb pretty bad, I'm just going to have to get enough money to get both at the same time!
