thanks guys. i was really happy to hear it start up for the first time. for as much stuff that i upgraded and swapped out and had to make stuff work i'm impressed how well it ran. the idle was perfect at 14.7 AFR.

just need to fix a couple things tomorrow and clean it up a little, then time to tune it. i'll have to get some custom brackets made up for some things but thats it.

i know man. i really wish i was able to come. unfortunately i just cant take leave in time for it. i dont even have enough time to fly there.

i am going to try entering my car in HIN Jacksonville, FL on Oct 30. i've got a couple more thing i want to do by then. hopefully i will make a good showing though.

BTW, wait til you guys see pics once the bumper is back on. we test fitted it earlier to see if the intercooler cleared. it looks unbelievable now, no more gaping holes behind the bumper.

don't get too excited, were still not done yet. i've still got to tune the car. the only thing we have done is let it idle.

No prob. on the new build they have to be removed and replaced.
Also you should lengthen the overflow hose down pass the fan shroud. If you haven't done so already.

yeah i haven't messed with that tube yet. were still trying to get everything finished up.

i need some ideas for the intake. there is no room for a filter. i cant find any at the stores around here. i might have to use some flex tubing and find a filter online.

I ran into the same issue. Ended up using a 3 1/2 in 90 deg elbow and stuck a filter on that . Dont forget the screens.

i have two 3" 90 degree bends i could use and a 3.5" 45 degree bend. i'm trying to find a 3" filter now. i'm debating if i actually need screens. i dont know if i even have mine still. i think i only have one still in my K&N intake. it ran and idled so good without it.

Let's see if this link works: http://www.knfilters.com/search/universal.aspx

Yes, it does. Select a type of filter you want and in the pull-down menus you can select a desired dimension and it will search their product line for you. This was how I found the RX-4140 I used on Phil's Pettit CAI I built.

Here is AEM's version but their selection is lesser; http://www.aemintakes.com/search/univcone.aspx

Good thing these two companies are working together as those AEM filters are pretty nice. Maybe we can get them in the many available sizes from AEM, someday.

thanks, it looks like the only ones available in my size have a 5 degree flange which should work still.

i searched the size on the K&N website and looked for local dealers and called a few but they dont have them in stock. it will be 2 days to get one shipped to them.

part numbers are RB-0900 or RB-0910.

What dimensions do you need? I had to dig deep for a filter when I did Phil's car.
Oh, wait, you are running into the same contradiction that I did when doing Phil's intake; it kinda sucks that K+N has a 3.5" ID flange with a 4" OD base but not a 3" ID flange with that same base. The smallest they have with a 3" ID flange are the 900 and 910 you selected.

i need a 3" flange with as small as possible outside diameter to fit behind the bumper. RU-5111 also looks like a good candidate.

Actually, it does. The RX-4140 I used is a 4" base and it fit behind the front bumper cover rather nicely. I don't know what your intended location is for the filter but that 4.5" base on the 5111 you are looking at might be snug. Phil had a 5" base filter and I had to literally smash it with a hammer to make it fit until his new filter arrived.

sorry i didn't have time to get any pics of the progress.
BTW, so people don't bother Nuke with questions; it was at least partly (if not ALL) my fault that Nuke got an M/T instead of an A/T radiator. He paid for the A/T, I was billed for an M/T, but I failed to "connect the dots" when I got my invoice. Had I been watching closer I would have caught the error and corrected it. I will be ordering Nuke the rad he needs and we'll probably install that M/T he got on MazdaManiac's car.

I hear you on the second point; kinda hard to take pix all day when you would rather get the job done that photo-document it all.

i might be able to use that one but then i would need a 3.5" 90 degree bend tube.

I used just such a thing (which 09 mentioned) on Phil's install. Will that tube be going through the radiator core support, by chance?

Before we go further; when BHR does GReddy-type turbo installs we use the AEM 21-485 intake system and it pretty much is a bolt in CAI for those turbo installs. Does this interest you or would you rather pursue a piece-by-piece set up? I am trying to make things as simple as possible for you.
