Question RX8 and RX7

I am sure this thread was discussed at some point and time on this site so please forgive me since I couldn't find it through the years of posts. I am still very new to the rotary scene. I was wondering if there is a major difference between the RX7 13B rotary and the Renisis I have in my 2005 RX8 GT? I just wanted to see if the turbo system on the 7 would be able to be crossed over onto my 8.

You should put a flame suit on.

Just trying to figure this out since I have a buddy parting out his 7. Niether of us know if it was possible. Not trying to be a bother. No where around here knows anything, atleast not by shop standards.

long answer yes with major mods which would make it easier and cheaper to buy a kit for the 8

The short answer is more accurate. No. The turbo setup for the RX-7 is designed for that car and I doubt it would even fit properly in the RX-8. Also the manifold would probably not fit the Renesis which uses totally different exhaust ports (side exhaust ports). If you are interested in turbocharging your RX-8 there are viable kits designed for this car.

Only the turbo and wastegate would interchange. Everything is completely different..

No worries, but remember there is a LOT of awesome information here on the site. Make sure to check out the various stickies and do a bunch of reading. If you are really interested in learning the workings of the car this is the place to do it. I recommend the Major Horsepower Upgrades forum especially.

Plus, the twin turbo is useless and extremely complicated to troubleshoot. Talk about vacuum lines
Go with a proprerly sized turbo, add the side exhaust port magic and you're done
