the one thats available now is the Petit heres the owners thread...https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-major-horsepower-upgrades-93/pettit-super-charger-owners-127674/
its a long read, i think its around 120 pgs and took me several weeks to read in my spare time.
theres alot of off topic persoanl bashing in there but all said everyone in there offers very good points on both sides,
Others are the one Hymee is working on and aslo the one Axial Flow is working on. you definately need to read up on all FI options and decide for yourself if Turbo or SC is the way to go,,, try to filter through the fanbois and haters there are alot of opinionated remarks on both sides,,,
all in all the Petit kit is really coming into its prime, it produces anywhere form 270whp to 300whp and was designed as a DD application. Typical turbo upgrade kits are producing 270-330+whp but as everything you really need to do your homework when tunning, there are several people whom are chosing to mod the kits with cooling upgrades and efficiency upgrades...

also the larger size of your AT trans has nothing to do with a SC so dontworry about that either,,, there are several AT Petit SC owners

the reason i brought up the trans size is because i went into a shop months ago. they didnt really know much about the 8 and said that there were no fi upgrades for the at yet due to the larger size.

also i had heard of the petit sc and looked into it a lil as well. unless im mistaken its damn expensive, tho. thats part of why i posted this to see other options. but is the petit sc going to give me the most whp out of those currently (or near future) available??

thanks again,
douglas

any FI is going to be expensive if you want to do it right. As far as the shop you went to...I'm sure they don't know squat about rotaries. The Pettit SC seems like a good option for you if you want a SC. But you may want to keep your options open and talk to MazdaManiac about the upcoming MM/BHR turbo kit. You won't be disappointed with either I'm sure, but it's up to you on what end result you are trying to accomplish with your car.

yeah time to go to another shop,,, also like 05 said all FI is expensive ranging from around $5K to $10K to do it right, with all of them your gonna have to look into other supporting mods and tunning to get a reliable result.
You definately need to be patient and look into all your options, Jeff(MazdaManiac) is a good guy with very strong FI opininions. He is incredibly knowledgable but dislikes the design of the Petit with a passion, even though he continues to offer solid criticisms in the Petit threads.
Charles R. Hill from BHR is wonderfully knowledgable guy and is less aggressive than Jeff, he too would be a good person to confer to...
On the Petit side you have Olddragger, Bastage, Phils8, Shink213, Moon Asad(Petit Developer) and others whom you will be found in the Petit threads that will be of great help to inform you of thier SC option...
PS- I am currently saving for the Petit SC, will be looking at a early to mid November install... but again you must determine which FI choice is best for you dont let strong opinions sway you too much, its an expensive investment for your 8, do research, talk to as many people as possible, plan a budget and choose wisely... GL

i have been pm'ing with some people on this subject. most likely i am going to go with an sc, so now it is just the point of deciding which one. hopefully i am going to be able to do this within the next couple of months; i should have the money by then. i have been hearing a lot about the petit sc for quiet some time now and it has definitely peaked my interest.

Not quite sure how these are going to help an AT.

haha. thanks. thats a huge help. how much of a boost in hp could i potentially be looking at - minus the sc - through that list? i know it would be hard to give solid numbers, but ballpark would be nice. you have definitely lengthened the "to do" list. and the bills....

None except for the catless midpipe and *possibly* coils. Not much though. Need FI for any substantial gains. The short shifter is a must have though.

On an MT. You wouldn't get near that NA with an AT.

Did a quick read of this thread and as an owner of a Pettit s/c in an a/t I can tell you that I would not have changed my mind even if I had the chance. Having driven both the s/c and the turbo I would say each has it's good and bad points. I see the guy that is questioning has a 6port with the new 6speed a/t. I would think that you would be most pleased. I'm always available to answer questions about my experiences with the s/c, just PM me.
