It doesnt matter with you have mods and still in warranty or out of warranty with mods Mazda has to do the MSP-16 ecu reflash because it is a RECALL.

05' 4AT; just had mine done yesterday, my idle is alot better and starts to accelarate faster in 1st. it used to not really pick up until about 4000rpm, now it seems to get going around 3200rpm. And my shifts appear to be smoother.

Did you have to pay for this? Can I just call the dealership and tell them I need it? Or are they going to charge me a boat load of money to do it. I don't think I have a sticker on my hood. Wheres the sticker suppose to be?

You are wrong, all they have to say is that due to the changes you have made the recall item may cause damage. Recall means nothing unless it is a exterior/interior part. Now our local dealer will not flash if you have a CAI but will change a sun visor if broken. Be prepared to be disappointed when asking for warranty. Oh by the way, wave the federal law at them and they laugh - It will take 3-5 years to get a court date and more money than the car costs.

Took mine in for an oil leak and the did the reflash as well. I was not having any of the issues that prompted the new flash and recall. And I also have a RB revi intake and although the service tech made a few off hand comments about "That intake" they still did all of the repairs (under warrenty).

I have only had the car back a few days so I can't really tell anything as of yet.

This is a recall not a TSB. You do not have to be in warranty to get the reflash. Your local dealer must suck

It does not make any difference whether a TSB or a recall - they only have to do what they wish - now with that said the local dealer has softened his stance lately and is doing the flash to lightly modded 8s and will honor warranty and recalls if you remove the parts that he deems excessive.

I would rather make the changes myself or have Jeff make them with the AP. I trust Jeff but I do not trust the local dealer.

There is a difference between a Recall and TSB. I am going to leave it at that

I had that flash done before the last dyno day at Yoshi's. I definitely noticed the difference in the low end acceleration.

Phil, you should use the dealers in So Cal. Being so close to Mazda USA (headquarters is in Irvine, CA) they seem much less reluctant to be picky about mods. Many of their customers are Mazda USA employees.
