Was is there a post on the site indicating how many owners have automatics and how many have manual?

For that matter, wonder what percentage mazda sales that are auto compared to stick?

A large majority are MTs. Not sure what the actual production numbers are.

Mines a 4AT but when I look through the http://www.carsales.com.au web site I notice around 10% are the 4AT version most of the time

Nope, doesn't really matter I guess. I was just wondering what the trend was on rx8s purchased. Over time automatics have gotten better and better so would think in time they would start to increase in sales while manual sticks would decrease. Then again there is the extra $$$ for auto plus it is a sports car so many that get an 8 want a stick or nothing at all.

Hum...10% that is indeed a low amount I would say...maybe true but surprised the figure would be that low.

After posting that thread. I did my monthly status check of the Carsales web site.

104 "private sales" of which 23 where auto. (20%)

This is the highest percentage I have ever counted.

Actually, the 4ATs were cheaper than an MT with equivalent options. You get 35 or 40 extra hp with the MTs, as they can rev higher. Not sure if the 6ATs are different in price, but they still give up 1500 rpms to the MTs.

Not down under there not.

The **** retards at Mazda Australia not only insult Aussie buyers with a near 100% price hike on the same car in the USA & Japan. But they then have the hide to charge more for the 4AT version.

Their contempt for the rotary buyer is very well known.

That's strange - here when I got mine, mine was about 1000 USD cheaper than an MT. Wonder why the difference? Different demand in different markets, maybe?
