As far as people getting hung up on comparisions - what I meant is that there is always a car out there that will be faster than yours, unless you buy a buggati veyron or something

And I agree 100% with choosing the AT for traffic, convieneince, etc. Obviously, since I choose one I like having the option of shifting manually, but being able to put it in full auto mode when I don't feel like shifting myself. I have some health problems, so it comes in very handy at times and is less fatiguing to drive. If I'm having a bad day and have to get somewhere, I can just put it in Drive and focus on braking and steering.

But I also love shifting manually and using the paddles. When the MT owners get too obnoxious, I love to say "I'd rather spank with a paddle than play with my stick".

That said, we can't lump all MT owners into that camp. All my local guys have been great about helping me out with things, and I've become good friends with quite a few of them.
Yeah, we're on the same boat .

Yeah, but you look good in the garage figuring out how to get out of work. Not this time, you have several projects you've been "ducking" but I will hold you hostage until they are complete this time.

Can you give me an idea of how fast your a/t with the Pettit Stage II s/c is? I always read around that a a/t is quicker than stock (obviously) but i would like to have an idea of how much faster it is.

I have no dynos of it since the install of the s/c. Still having tuning issues. I have no way to determin "how much faster" it is. Let's just say that a stock MT gets beat. I am hoping that MM will get the problems out of the tune when he is here or someone will come thru with a flash.

My AT 05 rx8 was a already purchased by my wife's parents as a gift before we got married. I wasn't going to say NO to a free car, auto or MT
Though, if I had a choice, I woulda preferred a Manual.

I can drive both MT/AT. Driving MT in SoCal traffic just does not work.

BTW, I wonder if any of the MT owners have even tried out the AT's. I have the 07 6 spd. tranny, and it is a blast to drive.

I really think your correct. With the new 6 port six speed a/t the differences are not that great. Of course the "purest" m/t fanboi would never be caught driving an a/t

Hay Taj, you coming back in your second life as an a/t basher? You know that there are some of us that just wanted the a/t and never even considered an m/t.

Also some people are scared/put off on learning to drive stick. Especially those in a stop/go or hilly environment.

Then there are those that don't want to look stupid in front of thier peers when they stall out at a light.

I first got a M/T But I stalled it while I was pulling out of the Mazda lot and my parents were like eff that you are going to kill yourself if you are turning left at a intersection and you stall at a light. So I got the A/T instead and got $2k back so it was a loss/win situation

Well, your becoming as lazy as I am. Did not know you had it good did you! Cluth pedal will be shot lived problem, clutch dying - traffic - lights - whine (welcome to the real world), extra speed (over rated). Glad to have you back.

One reason I went for MT is that supposedly a lot of car thieves can't drive stick... Also, I bought used, and the cost to fix an auto transmission is pretty high, I hear.
