Smile 02 sensor question...

Hey all! I have a 04 rx8 with 94k mi with a pretty clean engine...never had any issues (like flooding n such) since I got it (@78k) cept for this... I'm having really bad mpg rite now (bout 11city 13-15hw) and have a few questions to people who've had similar problems or people who knows about this problem and have wisdom to share...about replacing the 02 sensors...I already worked on other possibilites like cleaning air filter, MAF sensor, new coils, new plugs...only thing left I could think of is cat, 02 sensor and compression test (I'm hoping not to go there).

So here are my questions:
1. I've read here that the rear 02 sensor has nothing to do with adjusting a/f ration and that its the job of the front sensor, so is it safe to assume that if i do have a faulty sensor, it will only be the front?

2. So let's say I change my 02 sensor and my mpg improves to normal ranges or close to it, will I fk up the new sensor if I install it with my current (possibly bad or about to be done) cat converter? I can't see how it would but i'd rather be sure than soree.

3. And lastly, I'm a bit tight on budget right now so I'm looking for cheaper ways to fix this problem...and we all know how much the oem 02 sensors cost....anyways, I was browsing online for cheap 02 sensors and ended up on this site that sells 02 sensors but only the sensor part and w/o the harness...I guess wut u have to do is cut ur old one out and install the wires on the new sensor with the old harness...n its only 22$

With that said, is there anyone that has tried to do this?...or anyone that can forsee possible complications if I did this? It's as simple as connecting colored wires and even if it doesn't last long, if I could atleast get a year from it then its well worth it (or even till I get enough $ to buy an oem when it fails). But I'd rather ask here first before I do something that could potentially fk up my ecu or car for that matter.

Here's the link to that sensor:

Tnx in advance!
