04 rx8 automatic stalling..help!!!
Hey, I just bought my 04 rx8 a few months ago from a pre owned lot. On the first day only a few hours after picking it up ,I experienced my first stall. Here is how it starts.(in order)
- loss of power while highway driving
- at a stand still(red light, stop sign) I start getting tones of vibration, enough to make everything raddle
-at acceleration I can have the pedal to the mat and I only accelerate at a crawling speed.
-once it changes from 1st to 2nd I can hear a kind of grinding noise
-and finaly at my next stand still the car just dies
my only solution so far is popping it into neutral at a red light and keep giving it gas so she don't die on me.
I'v done a little research on forums and such only to find out that the only solution I can see so far is an engine replacement or a class action lawsuit. Does anyone know the cause of this problem? I bought it with 46000k's on it and I got an extended warrenty when I bought it. I brought it to mazda only for them to tell me it was fine. Another shop is still working on it. So if anyone has and advice that would be greatly appreciated. Im only 21 and worked pretty dam hard to get this car, I really don't wanna give it up, lol thanks

Is it throwing any codes? It must be. Dealer isn't doing his job!
Reason you can't accelerate is the car is in limp mode, so you really need to get the code read. You say it's at a shop now, so my order of things(somewhat decided upon because of cost) would be this......but let's see what more experienced people might chime in with.
Oh.............any mods?
1.) Plugs
2.) Plug Wires
3.) Coils <----- This is my bet!
Then I'd start looking at
4.) Clogged CAT
5.) Get a Compression test(would probably do this after the above anyway).
Vibration could be motor mounts, but since it's basically stallling out, that is obviously the first issue you need to deal with and can obviously cause the vibration.
Get that code(s) read and then report back here what they are.......then we can narrow it down!
