04 rx8 head unit

hey, peeps i just bought a rx8 and the old owner told me he blew the head unit by installing a aux. cord to the stock stereo so now i can't turn the ace on or defrosters and the hazard lights, but the stereo still plays but i cant see what station I'm listing to or what song # is the cd playing i wanted to see if something like this has ever happen to someone and if so did the head unit had to be replace or can it be repair

I have read someone had a similar problem but can't seem to find it right now. You should check all the cabin fuses to see I they are fine. Usually, the fuse would burn before the equipment is damaged.

but it sounds like he blew something else.

without seeing the wiring it's really hard to tell. like abrankhalid said, check the fuse first.
