04 rx8 with some issues

like the tittle says i have an 04 rx8 with 50,500 miles on it.. now my issue is my idle will go from 800-900 and sometimes it seems to drop a little below 800 and i get this annoying vibration feel the shifter shakes like a b*tch too so im sure its not helping ive searched the forums and i found several issues but most of them the issue included power loss... the thing is i dont get power loss the car pulls pretty good, i have no cels, i changed out the plugs about 6k miles ago along with the dealer changed my motormounts as well.. since i have no power loss what do u guys suggest i do?? i believe at 50,500 the warrenty is up.. ive taken it to the dealer for it before and they say its normal but from what i read the rotary engine is suposed to run very smooth

The thing is that you did not search enough

the thing is that your motor mounts are bad

the thing is that you're out of your warranty already

The thing is that you have to buy a new set on your own.

trust me i searched.. if it were bad coils id have power loss, bad mounts would be vibration but they were literally replaced around 45k miles so that just cant be it, plugs replaced, maf sensor cleaned looked fine anyways.. i just dont know what else to check

Thats how he is with everyone just relax, he does have some valuable information. I would suspect motor mounts to as I had them replaced recently and it calmed down some vibration and made shifting easier. Maybe they could have been faulty and did fail after 6k miles. Although it revving funny might be some type of other problem. Maybe someone here as some experience. How long as it been happening? Could it be simply a tank of bad gas? Is the car at operating temperature when this happens or cold?

when it happens the car is at operating temperature... i also read its maybe signs of a bad cat but i just did a rb catback with rp midpipe with highflow cat so thats not the issue either.... i never replaced the coils or spark plug wires and i think they might be original but im not sure the idle jumping from 800-900 would be cause by it

trust me if im pissed I wouldnt sound like that. Thats already my *nice* tone to noobs

reason I ask is that, it IS POSSIBLE that stock mounts fail prematurely.

if you're positive that your mount is not the issue. whats next?

plugs? yes you did change it yourself but when ?

what about coils?

Powertrain warranty for 04 and 05 has been extended to 60 months or 60K miles, whichever comes first.

and dont forget powertrain warranty does NOT cover motor mounts. so you might want to keep that in mind.

Do you know what Flash level you're on ?

Could be neutral switch.

Do a search on surge or idle surge

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ght=idle+surge

there's another thread around some where that pinned it to a differnt problem.

I had the same problems as you are having. I took the RX8 to the dealer and they replaced the motor mounts, two ignitions coils and wires. Plus they updated my ECM and replaced my MAF sensor. I thought my MAF sensor was fine. They said the sensor was the reason for it idling rough. The car runs like new now.

Its only covered if thats the *cause of failure*

in MOST CASES, they wont cover it. Trust me on that one.
