1000hp/tq for $1500?
I am in a little competition for a class that uses the desktop dyno program to simulate an engine build. We can start with any stock engine and all it's accessories but have to rebuild it (gaskets, bearings, seals, etc) and do any performance mods we want but for under $1500. The final judging is done using (horsepower + torque)/ engine displacement. What are the best and cheapest mods for the 13B? Could i get 1000 hp for under $1500?

'any stock engine'
I'll start with this one.
/I can has 1500 for the 8 now?
Update, I read more:
"but have to rebuild it (gaskets, bearings, seals, etc)"
/I fail, 1500 won't even top off the oil....

Does it count if you put the power down for just a fraction of a second before the engine explodes? Maybe you could do something like that, with some kinda engine, but I dont think it would be the renesis

i dont know that much about rotary engines so that is why i am asking you guys. I have the most experience with diesels but they are so expensive. i cant even get a basic re-ring kit for less than $1500 in most cases. The competition is almost more of a "think outside the box" exercise than anything else. I say 1000 Hp because that is a big number. If i get 700 out of a 1.3 liter engine i will probably win the competition. i mostly was looking for guys that have come up with real mods that arent just buying the most expensive parts and slapping them on the engine and adding up all the projected HP numbers. The engine doesnt have to run for real but would be better if it was at least somewhat believable. I do apprecieate all the advice.

If you are talking real world mods and real world power on a real world Renesis, it takes ~$10,000 to get to ~300whp from forced induction, which is somewhere around 375-400 at the crank. Exactly how much depends on how much you can do yourself, what deals you can find, and how fast your engine responds to tuning. Expecting $10,000 is the right way to go, and you can be left with some over otherwise. And if it's on an actual car, that number will keep climbing for modding the rest of the car to take that (brakes, wheels, tires, suspension, etc...)
For $1,500 on engine mods for our engine, you can expect to gain 10-15hp, and that is with a midpipe, AccessPORT, and cat-back. MAYBE 20 hp if you are lucky. Drop the AP or the midpipe, and $1,500 will get you MAYBE 3-5hp. MAYBE. It might actually reduce your power.
The 8's powertrain is really very well set up from the factory, and only removing the conservative shift in the factory tune and removing the cat is noticable, as those are the only things Mazda didn't already tune and develop for.
N/A, street mods will top you out around 210whp, professionally backed race mods for $40,000 to $100,000 will top you out around 225whp.
FI, street mods will top you out around 325whp, although you can rebuild the engine stronger and 400+whp has been reached (by a couple people). Those people that have, haven't revealed how much they spent, but I would expect it would be closer to $20,000.
This is the wrong engine for your project on your budget.
