13b-msp cmf?

okay i searched the forum..and if it was mentioned i didn't see it (probable in one of those threads with a zillion pages :p )

so does anyone know what the rx-8's engine flows?

i'm looking for the cmf (correct mass air flow) of the 13b-msp. granted that number changes based on rpm.......so i would love to know it for like every 500 rpm or so.

i have a formula to figure it out..but it's for piston engines..and i dn't kno if the same formula's and calculations will carry over due to the design characteristics of the rotary engine.i'm also not sure how the opening of the different ports at different rpm's would effect the cmf. anythoughts would be appritiated D:D

AC compressor clicking on/off

Hello everyone, I just discovered something wierd about the AC of the 8, not sure if this applies to everyone:

When I am using the AC with the temp **** in the middle of the blue area (not all the way to the left) I hear an audible click of the AC compressor clicking on and off every 10 seconds or so. It doesn't click if you turn the AC all the way to the left. It's so annoying because when I want mildly cool air I have to hear this incessant clicking!!! Anyone else notice this, or find a way to solve this?

EDIT: whoops, forgot to start a new thread :D

Go ahead and start a new thread and then delete this one. You can delete any of your own threads. -RG

What you ask has so many variables it is nearly impossible to just give you an answer. Porting definitely has a large effect, as would exhaust scavenging diferences and loads. In general the size comparison does work out well to a 2.6 liter engine. However how the engines actually use air is where you need to focus. A typical piston engine will use 7 lbs of air to make 1 horsepower where a rotary will use 10 lbs of air. Adjust your formula to compensate for that and see what you get. Richard Paul can also give some insight into this as he had to learn airflow numbers to develop a supercharger to fit the rotary.

tryign to size a turbo (looking at the garretts b/c they make their flow charts avaliable) for the 13b-msp...not getting one anytime soon....probable when the awarrenty is gone and this car turns into my project (more so then it is now) car. also when i totally understand it all (wel i cna never "get it" all) then i'll do some fab work and put it in myself. haha but right now i'm just trying to understand how everythign works D

thanks for your help..and post back if you can think of anythign else that would be benifical:D
