2 Questions on 04 RX-8 AUTO

Hello! I just recently bought an 04 4-Speed Auto RX-8.
I have 2 questions though,,,

1. When should I check my OiL? I heard it runs out pretty quick in these cars.

2. How do I launch when I am at Manual?

thank you.

I've got what appears to be one of the good '04 Auto RX-8's. As far as oil consumption, I've heard that you need to gauge by experience depending on how you drive. For me (mix of country and city driving), I've found that I need to add a quart of oil every 2K miles. I've been following an alternating pattern of oil change, then add a quart 2K miles later, then oil change 2K miles later, etc. However, I've found that my mileage drops slightly (just above or below 20 mpg) after an oil change. Then, as I get more mileage past the oil change, my mileage increases, so I've been considering doing an oil change, then add a quart after 2K miles, then two more adds before an oil change (8K between oil changes). At this point, I'm 5K+ after last oil change, and the mpg on my last tank of gas was 23+.

Hope this helps.

Am yet to find a worthwhile method for getting the 4AT off the line.

Best so far is using half throttle for the first 2-seconds then flooring it after that otherwise it "bogs" severly.

wow...I am actually doing this...flamessssss

instructions for good launch in manual:

go to car-part.com source a good manual transmission, pcm, etc

seriously, if you paid for you car I doubt you want to destroy it, and that is the only option...swap to manual or destroy your car with slow but faster than normal launches by "stalling" the converter with "half throttle"

I own an RX7 type RZ and my daily driver the RX8 auto.

First of all the launch of the line. The trick is to press the DSC ( Digital Stability Control) switch next to the light rheostat so that the DSC off reminder comes on. Then you can get it two ways offthe line... either keep in neutral and slam it into drive with the revs at 3.5-4 k rpm or just boot is in drive..... nice wheelspin. If you dont turn the DSC off it will bog down.

The next question is about the oil. I just change the oil every 1200km and the filter every 2400 km.... uses a little bitbut I am not worried as the oil is being changed every month sometimestwice a month.

I do that with the RX7 as well.
