2004 rx 8 15000 miles, should i get extended warrenty

I know that the 04 rx8s have had misc. problems and my warrenty runs out in May 08. Would most on this board agree that i get an extended warrenty? anyone know what the cost of this might be?
15,000 miles, original owner, its my second car...it sucks gas, so i regularly drive my 96 honda accord, and save it for weekends.
Its in great shape and I have 2 more years to pay on it.

If you get one, get it from Mazda.

60K or 5 year for powertrain, whichever comes first.

Bumper to Bumper 48 K miles or 4 year, whichever come first

Yes but some 04s (like mine) were bought in 03. Add five years to that and you get 08.

I bought in mine in 11/03, on my second engine, and will definitely look into an extended warrentee next year. I hope it doesn't cost too much.

I think subsequent owners are still covered by the 60,000mi/5 year warrentee.

as long as you haven't passed the mileage/year limit, yes you are, the warranty stays with the car, not the first owner

correction, find out when your 8 was first TITLED, because that's when the warranty actually begins counting

BIG QUESTION RAISED:
The local Mazda dealer was recently bought by a Chrysler, etc. dealer, which immediately resulted in a quantum, downhill shift in warranty repair attitude. The new dealer is insisting that my 04 Titanium 6-speed, of which I am the original owner as of Jan or Feb 2004 (I'll check), has a warranty good only to 50k and four (!) years on drivetrain. Thus he claims I am already out (just passed 50k) and would have been anyway in Jan-Feb 2008. It sounds like you guys are saying 5 years, 60k, right? Is there some catch I might be missing? Never modded, no interruption in title, completely virgin RX-8.

Really could use a knowledgeable reply here.
Thanks,
Jeffrey

the dealership is wrong, Call MNAO customer service, they can verify your warranty coverage for your '04 RX-8.

I recently bought an 04 rx8 from the dealer...was 40K miles and I had remaining 2 months left on it, but at the bussiness dep. the guy said if I bought the exteneded warranty 5yrs/60K miles he would drop the price 700$....So i took it... Total 1800...If i didnt take the warranty that day would have been 2500$...So maybe thats what ur looking at...Idk call them and ask

Whoever told u those, are nothing but full of bullshit.

its 5 yrs 60 K for powertrain, its not the dealership who said *yes or no* to your warranty, is Mazda America.

and some early 04s got even LONGER warranty for their 8.

Tell your Chrylser that they can go sick their left nuts, and honor the warranty now.
