2004 RX8 HP numbers

I've seen 2 different HP #s for the 04 RX8 which are 197hp and 238hp. Are both correct? Which models have 197hp and which have 238hp? Thanks

You are probably looking at the automatic RX8 HP vs the manual RX8 HP

Yes, does the auto have 197hp and the manual have 238hp have? Also which would be the better choice if you could find both? Thanks

lol

less isn't more in this case.

you get less hp, less rpms, and less gears.

What I meant is the 197hp just as good as the 237hp at finding parts like turbos. Im guessing the 197hp is a automatic?

I have a 2004 Jap import RX-8 and it's got 250bhp. The standard european spec models have 192bhp (5 gear) and 231bhp (6 gear). Jap imports have more which is why the insurance is higher on mine. If you're from the US, I don't know what bhp is in those ones.

ah no..

you have 215hp like all 6 port models manual models. go do a wheel dyno and see what you get. i'm gonna "guess" here and say you'll get 180-185 wheel hp.

guess where that puts you at the engine?

almost everything is geared towards MT since AT owners are not as likely to get performance mods.

Additionally, AT owners vary quite a bit. Some have 4 gears, others have 6. The engines are different between these models too.

Thanks. So the 197hp is probably the 4 gear auto and do you think you could find a turbo for it like a Greddy, etc..? BTW is there something wrong with owning a auto RX8 guys?
lol

Nothing wrong with it......But I would never buy a AT......I felt a big difference in HP between the 197hp AT and the 238 HP MT.

IMO a sports car has a stick in it, call me crazy.

i belive there are some turbo 8s on the fourm that is an auto.. you can do the turbo but i belive you have a higher risk blowing up everything.. if i would u with a auto.. you should get a supercharger and i think the auto will benfit more out of a supercharger

Since you're dishing out advice, how about you go into more detail about why you're recommending a SC over a TC. I want to hear details on the higher risk and what benefits there are.

I actually agree... My 8 was my very first car that was manual. I wanted the 8 so bad, I practiced on my fiend's Civic (don't laugh) and the very next day, went to the dealer and bought my car. I am VERY happy I did this, though I was scared of hills for a few months.
