so my 2007 rx8 was totaled. but was maybe thinking of swaping the ecu over with key ignition and immobilizer and theft ecu. and gauge cluster.into a 2004 im about to pick up. if i swap those over the swap will run or am i just waisting my time. ???? ive been searching online and havent found any solid info on this

decided to just swap all the electronics that go bad instead with my newer 07 model ones.

 

Electronics usually outlive the rest of the car in our cases. They don't just "go bad". What you're proposing is a ton of headaches, some of the sensors changed between 2004 and 2007, so once you're done swapping the ECU you get to enjoy swapping whichever parts make it freak out.

 

yeah not swaping the ecu just the known parts that crap out on the 04 models. only a couple parts. temp control center dash. power steering rack if need to. turn signal control. all the engine sensors on my car are fairly new so nothing to change there. oh and the ETB goes wacky on 04 models. thats about it.

 

 

None of the components you listed crapped out on my almost 18 years old car (knock on wood).
