Exclamation 2nd gear problems

when i try to peel out or go beyond 7k rpm i cant put it into 2nd gear, and i hear the syncro grindidng. and its not that my clutch isnt in because i push it in all the way. theres something wrong with it and its pissing me off. and i can redline with no problem shifting from 2nd its only when im shifting from first to second. how am i suppose to race other drivers when i cant even go past 7k on first gear. i judt dont know what to do

if it was the clutch it would likely be occurring in other gears too, probably bent a shift fork or the 2nd gear synchro is shot from being improperly shifted one time too many

my second gear grinds when it is cold, no matter how gently or how slowly i shift into it. Its quite annoying, because i literally can count on one hand how many times i have reved the car over 8K, and i dont speed shift ever. To have a syncro go out on a new car is beyond bullshit i feel, along with the other non car threatening, but very anonying things that break on this car.

I am not making this up. My 1971 Chevy Vega GT with a Muncie 4-speed ALWAYS ground going into second...from the day it was new until it rusted into oblivion. So, it happens.

I had a Recall on the transmition. Already it has been 3 transmitions, Some source of insulating thing was to thin to absorve the vibration causing it to break. This third one does the grinding in the 2 gear. I figure out how does it work. You can take it all the way up to 8-9 k rpm. just be genttle with it. When shifting hold the shift and drive it into second, dont push it 'cause it will grind.

my 93 VOLKSWAGON corrado had fewer things break than this rx8, which says alot because... as nice as it was, it was a corrado.

I know things happen, thats why warrentys were invented for the major things. But that doesnt detract from the feeling of spending 27-29K on a NEW car, only to drive it off the lot and have the cooling *** break, or the door sill plate pop off randomly, or the breaks squelching at the first stop light, or the transmission grinding when you shift, regardless of how easy you are on the car etc etc.

Will i get rid of the car because of these things that keep going bad? Probably not. But i know i will not buy a mazda again. Ive owned new hondas, toyotas, volkswagons, and motorcycles, and none had these annoying things pop up every few weeks, that requires a trip bakc to the dealership to get fixed (whether under warrenty or not, its a hassle).

Im done with my rant now. Crap happens, yea, thats life. But whatever happend to you get what you pay for?

1) listen for the magic sound to tell you when to shift gears

What is your location? Perhaps they called it something else where you learned to drive a manual transmission?

it will jerk if u push in the clutch and then release it, or do you have to put it in neutral

Hrm. Does anyone actually double clutch with a syncro'd transmission? I mean, sure, if you're driving a late 60s Mustang (a la Steve McQueen in Bullitt - now, there's some double-clutching for you!). My tech friends tell me that sure, it sounds cool, and makes things slightly more smooth, but it does nothing for saving the 'box.

Yes indeed I'm confused. No worries as soon my car is out of the doctor I try it. They told they place a new program in the cpu and change a lot of stuff (like increase in aceleration). They had to put a new massflow sensor an new spark plugs. Plus the two recalls I receave by mail. They heve been 6 recalls on my 8 and 3 transmitions.

As long problems are included in my guarranty I won't get rid of my 8. Is so much fun driving it.
