30.3 mpg!!!

I just went to Atlanta and i got 33.3 mpg. I went to the game and shut my car off three times there and two times back. I also had the windows down. And at times I even had the AC on high. The funny thing is i had luggage and three people in the car. I just wanted to tell everyone my miracle lol

Not going to discount the possibility - the key is very few start ups , constant speed and mild acceleration .

If you've ever tried to fill up the 8's tank all the way to the brim (not a good idea, BTW), you realize that there is a huge margin of error in filling the tank, at least 1 gallon. Calculating mileage on a single tank of gas is just not very accurate. I personally have gotten highway mileage in the 26-28 mpg range and someone else reported 29 mpg on an automatic. I'd like to believe 30 is possible, but if you can't reproduce it on multiple tanks, especially back-to-back tanks, don't take it seriously.

I calculated it when i took my miles I have drove and then divided by the gallons i put in my car to fill it back up. I went 304 miles and and got 10.04 gallons. I know i didnt go till empty but it was the last gas station for a while of 411 and i had to **** ha ha. I know it was a miracle and it will never happen again though. Also i had it on cruise control most the way. A total fluke bc i normally get like 22 to 23 mpg but that is with some city travel.

Ok since it is hard to believe that a RX8 can get 30+ mpg. Maybe the pump shut off early and you thought that you fo your car filled. Lets say the pump stopped at 10 gallons but you really needed 12 gallons to fill your car. 304/12= 25.33 mpg. Now i would believe that number

No miracle, just a lack of a standardized test.

I saw No way....
My old Cobalt barely got over 32 MPG highway there is NO way an 8 can do it.

I've seen about 22-23 out of my 8 and that was 5 over the speed limit for 100% highway driving using cruise and no AC... Can't get better settings than that.

If the drive was on a down slope I could see getting better than average with the added weight but 30mpg seems unrealistic.

Ha. I've taken my g/f's newish Malibu (big cobalt basically) on a few highway trips and haven't gotten below 37 mpg.
