4 port vs 6 port, what parts are different?
I tired a few searches, none kicked back fewer than 800 threads. Sorry, too lazy to dig through more than a few hundred.
I seem to have acquired a 4 port, 2004, engine. It ran, just not wonderfully well. I am curious as to what parts will be useful for a 6 port build. Are the rotors and e-shaft the same? How about the OMP? I know the irons are different, as well as the flywheel. How about the rotor housings?
My 6 port has almost 80 thousand miles on it. It is still running strong, but if I were to bank potential parts, I am wondering what to keep from this one.
Or, is there something else I should do with it?

seriously ?
ok, i be nice today, 4 port vs 6 port difference is pretty obvious. 4 port u get 4 intake holes, while 6 u get 6. the extra 2 port is used to control different air velocity when the engine needs it(for higher rpm)
technically a 4 port can go 9 k rpm too (assume u use the heat treated stationary gears from factory as well), but u lose power after 7~ k rpm on the 4 port cuz it's not flowing enough air.
throwing a 4 port into a 6 port mt car will work, u need pilot bearing and seal. rest of the stuff is the same, but u gonna lose power after 7K rpm. (see above)
so if ur 6 port engine breaks down for whatever reason, unless you can get the 4 port for almost nothing and u gonna sell the car soon(and the next buyer gonna bitch like wtf), throwing a 4 port to a used to have 6 port engine car means u are retarded (lol)

Thanks,
That was what I hoped. Although I may have asked poorly... A better way to ask, is what could I use from the 4p to create the 6p. Sounds like I have a set of housings, OMP, lines, shaft, oil pump and other little parts. I know I would need 6p irons, and now know I need the better stationary gears.
I also have a couple of extra rotors for coasters or paper weights or if somehow I manage to destroy a rotor.
Or, to put it another way, I am a good set of irons, stationary gears maybe, pilot bearing and seal (I actually have those) away from parts for a 6p motor. And, someone smart enough to put it all together. And, if I ship it off to a smart person to get it built, the fact that I am not shipping the damn irons will make part of the process cheaper.
Thanks

rotors, rotor housings, e shaft and oil pump are the same 4 port and 6 port. exhaust manifold is the same, omp i think is as well.
stat gears are different, bearings are different, irons are different. intakes are different, although all the sensors are the same (afm, ect).

Thanks,
Sounds like lots of spares, and at rebuild time I just need a nice set of irons, maybe ported up nice, with gears, and everything will move over (provided the rest is not screwed up).
And, I got a fun, weekend, teardown project, after the honey do list, the "6" is fixed, the house is painted and the kids are out of college...

help
My 4 port 05 engine just died, its a 4 speed auto transmission... i found a 2006 rx8 with auto transmission that a guy is parting out, but its got a 6 port complete engine with 60k miles. ( its got manifold, injector, harness and all that crap that comes with the engine)
can i install the 2006, 6 port engine on my car?
if not what parts would i need for the 6 port engine in order to get it properly working on my car.?
im a girl and im not a car technitian so pls no trolls or mecanicall classes just answers pls... TY

It will be far cheaper to install a 4-port, then sell the car at a loss and buy a 6-port. Seriously.
