4th gear trouble

My problem is when im downshifting or just shifting into fourth gear in high rpms like 4 - and above, I hear this grinding noise whenever i shift. It isn't a smooth shift.

I've tested it and it never fails to grind, I'm not forcing it in at all, it use to shift smoothly and for some reason now its making these uncomfortable noises.

It hurts my heart to hear this and I'm no mechanic so I don't know where to start in order to fix this.

Just hoping for some advice and ways to fix this. thanks

my car is at the dealership right now for this exact reason. 3-4 upshift grinds when 4k rpm or higher.

This is begining to happen to me, does anyone think the dealer will make a big deal about my intake and exhaust? I don't think they could relate the two just wanted others opinions?

Yes they will give you hell no doubt about it. They will try to say you have been abusing the car. Same thing happened to me but nothing they can really do but try to intimidate you.

I've had this problem as well. Ended up with a new tranny after all was said and done.

So just basically stand my ground? I've only had the car for 2500 miles got it in sept. and I have kept up on everything perfectly, run royal purple in the trans and diff. Though I wanna switch to redline my buddies wrx's shift like silk, before I take it in to see if it helps.

I had the same exact problem with my 8. When I took it to the dealer, they claimed I was making it up because they couldn't duplicate the problem.

God Bless,
