4th oil leak from engine

Just found out the front seal is leaking and needs to be replaced.
At 10,000 replaced engine
At 45,000 Seal Leak
At 54,000 Oil filter put on wrong
And now at 71,000 another seal leak
Thank God for the extended warranty I purchased but man this stinks. Now I got to rock my wife's 06 Mercury Mariner for a while.
Love the car but this is getting old

What was wrong with the engine at 10K for it to be replaced?
What seal was leaking at 45k?
Who put the filter on wrong and how?

Sorry to hear of your misfortune.

Paul.

^^^ Pretty much the questions I was going to ask.

Sorry to hear you're having so many problems with your car, hopefully they can get it right this time and you'll be back on the road Zoom-Zooming

Because it was an 04, and North America Mazda wanted to find out why it was leaking. I bought July 29th 03, so was one of the first to buy my 8.
It was the same seal at 45,000.
It was a tech at the dealership I always go to that did the oil filter mistake. I spoke to Service Manager and got techs name to make sure he never touches my car again

I'm trying to understand this, if you help me through it:

The front main seal was leaking at 10k so they replaced the engine. The front main seal was leaking again at 45k, so they replaced the seal.
What did he do wrong with the filter, cross thread, leave an old seal under it, install the wrong one all together are leave it loose?
The front seal is now leaking for the third time in 71k?

What type of oil do you use and what's your typical change interval? What's your driving style: calm, a little spirited, very spirited 9k rpms a day?

This info will be very helpful in dealing with your situation and for others. Please include oil brands if you are aware of them.

oil

OK I have taken the car to the same dealership I bought it at. I get oil change every 3500-4000 miles as Mazda paid for it until 50000 miles due to them misquoting hp. Since then kept the same schedule
They use 5W-20, don't know the brand.
I drive all highway 90% of the time as I use this car for work only due to mpg. Usually drive around 75-80 mph all the time. I redline once every couple days usually in 2nd gear.
I can't remember exactly what happened with the oil filter but think it was the mis threading. Once I heard it was their mistake pretty much went off on service advisor and asked to speak to service manager. I did get 3 free details also.
Hope this helps
Roger

That's the problem. Cruzing. The MOP is not adding enough oil on the seals, Especially at cruize.

They have flashed the car several times for this.

The new 09's have an extra port to lube the seals on each rotor.

The problem is not with apex seal wear but with oil seal failure. This is quite interesting since the car has been maintained by the dealer strictly.
