Question 5th gear

hello! im new to this sight ive only posted a few times i have an 07 rx8 w/ 1k mils on it right now....

so here is my question

i was driving my car today on the highway and i kept noticing it was hard to get in to 5ith gear mainly when i go form 6th to 5th but also when going form 4th to 5th some times ill shift w/o a problem at all but other times it just dosen't want to go in gear i have the clutch all the way down... it might be my speed idk has anyone els exped anything like this before? i just don't want something to be wrong w/ the car maybe a little advice might help me understand the problem.

I've noticed on mine that if I am not careful I tend to press down on the stick shifting into 5th- this engages the reverse lockout, which allows the stick to slide past the gate and it won't go into gear. Try changing the angle of your wrist and see if that helps.

My problem seems be aggravated by the fact that I have four vehicles with manual transmissions and none of them have the same shift pattern.
