Well, this is assuming you're already rolling... Letting off the clutch while stopped WILL lurch and stall. I HATE it when I forget to take it out of gear and release the clutch pedal! :o

What he ^^^ said. This was originally discovered about a year ago. But don't delete this thread. It is useful to inform newer owners.

ok yea.. if u dont just drop it you can roll to about 5-6 mph in first.
what i have noticed tho is going the other direction (probably because the car uses a different map when decellerating) as in downshifting, the car doesnt behave the same. It's jerky and lurches. They're decel map still needs work.

i've never had a standard that wouldn't do that - did it in my two mid 80's 7's, my 2000 s10, 2002 Pr5, 2003 Mazda6, and now the 8 - maybe those cars are all exceptions, i should ask my wife if she could do it in her saturn.

but it is a great thing when you're stuck in slow moving traffic

I can only do this when the engine is still cold and idles at 1½-2K rpm. Once the engine is warmed up it would idle at about 1K rpm, and the car would jerk and stall if I let go of the clutch withot applying gas.
