? about underbody part

About a month or two ago, I hit a deer carcus on the interstate. Long story, you may have read it. Anyway, the only damage was to a bracket on the underside of the car. The bracket is flat and is about 9 inches. It looks to me that the bracket joins the two sides of the "tunnel" in the car. There are two of these brackets, only one of these are messed up.

The Mazda dealer said that driving without the part would not be a problem and that they would order me one. Well either the part never came in or they didnt order it because I never got a call. I would just rather order it myself and put it on since I dont feel like paying the dealer a $100 hour of labor for 30 sec of installation.

Does anyone somewhere I could order this part online or at least know what it is called?

Your best two sources for the tunnel brace would be either Rosenthal Mazda or Trussville Mazda. They have on-line ordering and price lists and their prices are some of the best I have seen. Plus, they are RX Tuner and RX8 website advertisers.

If you would care to replace those tunnel braces with titanium pieces I may be able to make up a couple for you in the next week, or two. I don't know, offhand, what it would cost me to build them but I can tell you that they would weigh about half of what the stock pieces weigh and would be stronger. Right now, I am prototyping a replacement PPF made of Ti.

I was thinking last night that I may want to just hand those things over to my machinist and let him start small on this stuff, just to get an idea of what is going on with them. It would be cool to have every removeable part under the cat made of Ti.
