Abs dsc tcs - c1937
C1937 - Steering Wheel Angle offset failure ( forget specific wording, will edit later)
Rx-8 was brought in by a customer.
L/F Inner Tie-Rod had been bad, alignment was pretty far out (before it came to me)
Inner tie-rod replaced, car aligned by outside shop.
After repairs car was driven. TCS light came on roughly .2 miles into the drive.
Light clears with key off, comes back after .2 miles of driving.
Stored code C1937, stored in the ABS standard memory.
Outside shop cannot determine failure, forwarded to us.
If this ever happens to anyone it's a quick easy fix which won't be found in any info about the C1937 code.
Simply pull the battery terminal and then reconnect. When you turn the car on perform the initialization by turning the steering wheel all the way one direction and then the other until the light turns off. If that does not resolve it, you will most likely need to perform the EPS Neutral Setting Initialization, which AFAIK is dealer only, or you may in fact have a problem that can be solved using the standard C1937 diagnostic procedure (mainly testing voltages, you can also monitor the swa_pos PID if you computer has access to the PCM PIDs)
Figured this was worth noting in case someone gets stuck with this code and does the diagnostic with no results.
Doubt it'll be useful to everyone or even often.
kevin.
if there are ANY MISUNDERSTANDINGS PM ME.
