Ash,

Please don't make a claim about a 50% reduction in air flow when that is simply not true.

Yes, any "modification" is a "risk". So is putting on a Ryco oil filter. The same reason you give for the tint not affecting my warranty is applicable to the exhaust or the grill. I.e. if my door handle falls off, then they can't blame the exhaust or the grill.

And the old argument about "if it is necessary, then why dont they fit them from the factory..." Oh, dear. If the bean counters let the designers have their way all the time...

Cheers,
Hymee.

Hi Hymee

Who said that if your door handle falls off I or anyone will blame it on a grille?!
I find your analogy a little strange..

When Mazda look at a defect or warranty claim they want to know the causal effect,
that is what in a dealers (techs) opinion is the main cause for a defect.
If any non approved accessory or product is found to have been the cause of a
defect/breakdown that particular warranty claim will be rejected..these are the facts.

Adding any product that may change the cars design values could be
attributed to the cause of the problem.

As I said, and I never referred to your brand of grille, however, you can plainly
see that one of the designs promoted in on this forum shows the "diamond"
cut holes, you can see that the volume or mass of the material that wont allow
air through is about 50% of the product, therefore this will cease to allow air flow
of a similar amount through the condenser/radiator at that entry point.

In my experience with the RX-3 10a and 12a(b), RX-4 12a and 13b, Rx-5, Rx-7
all have large openings between headlamps and or under bumper bar for air flow.
Rotaries worst enemy is Heat.
Over many years I could count on one hand the number of condensers replaced due
to stone damage on a particular model, and the addition of an aftermarket mesh grille
or even fly wire is nothing new.

Mazda has never made any product to "protect" the radiator or condenser for any of
their rotary models or any of their cars, in fact know of no manufacturer who does.

You have yet to answer my question, has Mazda approved the installation of these
particular devices, and to name any dealer who stocks/installs your products to
Mazda owners that are still covered with a factory warranty.

Obviously as a producer you will continue to support/sell a product you manufacture,
just like the many members of this club who have installed them, that is their business
to do as they wish to their cars.

I would never use a product that would restrict air flow by even 10% on my car.
When my original exhaust wears out I would seriously consider installing your
exhaust, as they look like a superbly made and finished product, I am yet to
be convinced on its performance benefits though.

Cheers

funny how mazda decided to include mesh on the Mazdspeed bumper

it would appear that the holes were so large they felt they had to or the chances of holes in the coolers was too great. with the smaller holes there is less chance of a hit so they dont have to worry about it as much.

no mazda representative will ever recommend any product not for sale by Mazda at Mazda dealers over the phone. they will only recommend products they test because of liability. so you r point there is invalid.

My postings on this subject refers to the original/standard front nose
design on the Japanese production RX-8 with black plastic nose
grille.

The Mazdaspeed front nose/bumper
has a 20% larger centre front opening to enable more
efficient cooling and also larger oil cooler vents which appear
fog lamps have been omitted.

I don't think the Mazdaspeed bumper has a plastic centre
grille like the standard RX-8 before a mesh grille is fitted
aftermarket.

I also see that Mazdaspeed products have a limited warranty
coverage depending on who and where they are installed.

To Quote>>MAZDASPEED "Blue" Performance Accessories must be installed by a MAZDASPEED Dealer on a US specification vehicle and be specifically approved by Mazda for the particular application. These parts are covered under the Mazda Replacement Parts and Accessories Limited Warranty and are warranted for the first 12 months/12,000 miles from the date of installation or the duration of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty, whichever is longer. Should the parts be purchased but not installed by a MAZDASPEED Dealer, they will be covered for the first 12-months/12,000 miles from the date of purchase, excluding labor charges. Parts or accessories replaced/installed under warranty, are covered for the time remaining in the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

This is exactly my point because of "liability" Mazda NMO will not recommend these products. So how is my point "invalid"?

I am pointing out to 8 owners, if any product that is not recommended by Mazda HQ is found to be the cause of a defect and subsequently a warranty (liability) claim in most cases it could be rejected...not covered.

Precisely, again my point of who accepts the liability or warranty claim if the non Mazda product is found to be the cause of a defect in your car.
Who would you expect to honour the warranty claim, Mazda, or the manufacturer of the non-approved product or accessory that you have had installed.

Its well worth asking the manufacturer/supplier of that non genuine product.
